Quality is an essential part of the development of higher education institutions. Quality procedures and applications have transformed from being an optional choice for institutions to an important necessity for the continuity of excellence among universities. To achieve this distinction, universities must measure and develop their outcomes in accordance with local and international quality standards . Therefore, Emirates International University seeks to develop and apply the concept of quality to improve the efficiency of its employees and ensure the quality of the outcomes of its academic programs .
Therefore, the Development and Quality Assurance Center was established at the university to help achieve the university’s mission and goals in accordance with the approved policies and strategies . The Center undertakes the tasks of monitoring and following up on the implementation of quality assurance standards, including academic, administrative and infrastructure quality, with the aim of raising the level of performance of the university and its affiliated colleges, enhancing their competitive capabilities at the national, regional and international levels, and ensuring their application of accreditation and quality systems and standards.
The center supervises planning and development, including strategic planning, collecting and analyzing information, and conducting the necessary studies. The center also contributes to evaluating the performance of university departments and following up on their implementation and development, in addition to developing and building human capabilities at the university to achieve and sustain the quality assurance system. The Center also supports colleges in preparing and developing academic programs in accordance with the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) and designing templates to help describe academic programs and courses in different colleges. In addition to designing forms and questionnaires that help in following up the educational process and university services, following up on the work of the quality assurance units in the colleges and determining their effectiveness in implementing quality assurance mechanisms within the college through analyzing and evaluating the periodic reports of those units and developing indicators to measure the outcomes of university plans and quality of performance and proposing their approval by The University Council, and analyzing the results of the university’s periodic evaluation and auditing processes .
All of this aims to represent the university in the best possible way that expresses its achievements and aspirations, with the aim of raising its level to be a competitive university at the local and regional levels .
