In an academic scene brimming with creativity and passion, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the Emirates International University witnessed today the submission of final projects by first-year students in the Architecture Department, as part of the “Architectural Design 1” course. The projects were supervised by Dr. Shura Al-Awadhi, with follow-up from Teaching Assistants Ruqaya Rashid and Afnan Al-Wajih, reflecting the university's commitment to developing students' creative and practical skills from their earliest years of study.
The presented projects reflected promising beginnings for the architecture students, demonstrating a remarkable level of understanding of the foundations and principles of architectural design. This was achieved through the application of architectural composition elements, spatial organization, and highlighting the relationship between form and function, all within design approaches that showcased innovative ideas and diverse artistic visions.
The submitted projects demonstrated the students' ability to transform theoretical concepts into preliminary design models that express architectural sensibility and creative imagination, while adhering to the principles of balance, movement, harmony, and the interplay of mass and space. These are fundamental pillars emphasized in the "Architectural Design 1" course, which builds the initial knowledge base for architecture students.
The project supervisor affirmed that these projects represent a significant milestone in the students' academic journey, contributing to the refinement of their design thinking skills, visual analysis, and artistic and architectural expression.
