In an academic setting reflecting an advanced level of applied education and technological innovation, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project by students from the Information Technology Department entitled “A Business Decision-Making Platform.” This smart project embodies a true shift from theoretical education to building technological solutions capable of serving the local market and keeping pace with the modern digital economy.
The project was prepared by a select group of students from the department: Mohammed Fadl Manshalin, Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Asoudi, Mazen Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, Osama Abdullah Douman, Jalal Najib Al-Bashiri, and Mohammed Mueen Al-Shami, under the supervision of Dr. Hisham Aqlan.
The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani, and Professor Dr. Hisham Aqlan, in an academic atmosphere that reflected the high level of attention given to the quality outputs provided by the university.
The project is a comprehensive smart platform that transcends the traditional concept of software automation, becoming a strategic partner in resource management and decision-making within commercial enterprises. The team successfully leveraged artificial intelligence and data analytics technologies, utilizing advanced algorithms such as XGBoost and Prophet, to accurately predict time series data and analyze seasonal sales patterns.
The project also relied on a professional technological environment using ASP.NET Core and React to build a flexible and interactive system capable of automatically integrating with point-of-sale (POS) systems and providing real-time business data analysis to support decision-makers, even those without technical expertise.
One of the project's most innovative features is the development of a smart engine for monitoring near-expiration products. The system analyzes expiration dates and suggests dynamic discount offers that help organizations reduce waste and transform potential losses into effective financial opportunities, thereby enhancing inventory management efficiency and improving the operational sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project affirmed that local challenges, however complex, can be overcome through innovative technological solutions stemming from an academic environment capable of generating knowledge and linking it to real-world market needs. This reflects the advanced level of training that Emirates International University provides its students in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
This project demonstrates that the university's output is no longer limited to the academic sphere alone, but now produces practical models capable of competing and making a real impact on society and the economy. This solidifies Emirates International University's position as a leading educational environment in preparing digital talent equipped with the tools of the future and contributing to building a more resilient and sustainable knowledge economy.
