The Emirates International University organized a speech and cultural event today, Monday, to commemorate the martyrdom of President Saleh Ali al-Sammad. The event was attended by academic and administrative leaders, as well as a large number of university students, in an atmosphere that reflected loyalty and the remembrance of national values associated with this occasion.

At the beginning of the event, the university president, Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the memory of the martyr al-Sammad represents a milestone of awareness and renewed commitment. He pointed out that martyrs, through their blood, forge the consciousness of nations and prove that homelands are built only through sacrifice. He added that the responsibility today lies with educational institutions to prepare conscious generations, possessing knowledge and principle, and capable of facing challenges with a responsible and steadfast spirit.

The university president affirmed that commemorating such occasions falls within the university's educational and awareness-raising role, reflecting its commitment to promoting social responsibility and fostering values that contribute to preparing a conscious generation capable of serving their homeland and nation, and addressing the challenges of the current era with unwavering resolve and awareness.

Cultural activist Professor Ahmed Al-Saraji delivered a sermon addressing the cultural and national dimensions of the occasion, emphasizing that the martyrdom of leaders does not signify their absence, but rather their continued presence in the collective consciousness of the nation. He touched upon the central issues facing the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, which he described as a humanitarian and ethical issue before it is a political one. He called for strengthening societal awareness, raising the level of responsibility, and adhering to fundamental principles in the face of the ongoing targeting and challenges confronting the nation.

Al-Saraji pointed out that the current stage necessitates greater social cohesion, the building of awareness, and psychological and intellectual preparedness to confront challenges. He stressed that the true battle is the battle of awareness, and that nations possessing awareness cannot be defeated, no matter how great the challenges.

For his part, the esteemed scholar, Professor Saleh Al-Kholani, delivered a moving religious sermon, reviewing the status of martyrs in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, and the profound lessons of faith their sacrifices offer in patience, steadfastness, and reliance on God. He addressed the trials facing the Muslim Ummah, particularly the plight of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that these tribulations necessitate a sincere return to God, a strengthening of faith-based values, and spiritual and moral preparedness to shoulder responsibility.

Al-Kholani stressed the importance of raising future generations on the values of honor and dignity, linking knowledge with faith, and action with responsibility. He affirmed that true victory begins within, with the development of individuals who are aware of their religion and its issues, and who remain steadfast in their principles under all circumstances.

The event was attended by the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, several deans of colleges, heads of academic departments, the university's activities and mobilization officer, and members of the academic and administrative staff, in addition to wide participation from university students who engaged with the content of the speeches and sermons, which conveyed profound messages of awareness, faith, and patriotism.
