The College of Medicine and Health Sciences Launches Scientific Days to Discuss Graduation Projects of the Eighth Cohort – Department of Human Medicine

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Emirates International University launched its Scientific Days to discuss the graduation projects of the eighth cohort of students in the Department of Human Medicine on Saturday. The event took place in a scholarly and academic atmosphere that reflected the high level of research maturity and intellectual excellence of the college's students.

 

The Scientific Days were officially inaugurated in a ceremony attended by the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani; the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Saleh Al-Dhaheri; the Vice Dean of the College and Head of the Department of Human Medicine, Professor Dr. Sadiq Abdulmughni; the Academic Coordinator of the Department, Dr. Maha Al-Muntasir; as well as the discussion and supervision committees, a number of academic and administrative staff, and a significant number of students and their parents.

 

During the opening ceremony, the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the university leadership's commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing the role of graduation projects in addressing priority health issues and linking academic knowledge to the needs of society. He praised the advanced level of the College of Medicine and its students.

 

 For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Saleh Al-Dhaheri, expressed his pride in the faculty's scientific output, emphasizing that these projects reflect the quality of the academic program, the competence of the teaching staff, and the students' efforts in adopting a rigorous scientific research methodology, thus contributing to the preparation of physicians who possess knowledge, skill, and humanitarian awareness.

 

The first day of the scientific conference witnessed the discussion of six graduation projects addressing important health issues relevant to the health situation in Yemen. These projects were as follows:

 

The first project: A study of the epidemiological and temporal trends of childhood leukemia at Kuwait University Hospital in Sana'a, which highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring, early detection, and nutritional support to improve treatment outcomes.

 

This project was presented by the students: Malak Najib Khalil Al-Qubati, Amal Ahmed Abdul Rabbo Atiq, Anisa Amin Tarish Abdullah, Basma Nasser Ahmed Al-Sarari, Athar Yahya Hadi Al-Jahafi, Maram Ali Ali Dahshoush, Paris Musad Saleh Hassan Ahmed, Sabah Ahmed Mohammed Jaadan, and Sheikha Osama Mohammed Al-Muqatri. Principal Supervisor: Dr. Abeer Al-Washli; Internal Examiner: Prof. Dr. Ahmed Qaed Salem; External Examiner: Dr. Noura Al-Awadhi.

 

Project Two: Research into the risk factors associated with iron deficiency anemia in children under five years old, which confirmed the pivotal role of intestinal parasites and the importance of iron supplements for mothers.

 

Project submitted by students: Hatem Yahya Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sharif, Hassan Ghanem Ali Ghanem, Jalal Hussein Ali Al-Zara’i, Abdullah Mohammed Abdulaziz Majed Al-Daba’i, Bashar Ahmed Ali Nasser Al-Harjabi, Abdul-Ilah Abubakr Abdullah Batrafi, Montaser Ali Salman Ahmed Al-Fares, Ahmed Ali Ahmed Omar, Ahmed Salim Ahmed Abdullah Amer, Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Al-Humais. Supervised by Dr. Noura Al-Awadhi, with Dr. Ahmed Qaed as internal examiner and Dr. Abeer Al-Washli as external examiner.

 

Project Three: A study of the patterns and risk factors of unintentional home injuries among children, highlighting the urgent need to promote home safety and preventive awareness.

 

 The project was submitted by the following students: Abeer Abdo Ghaleb Mahdali, Abeer Rashad Abdo Al-Fakhri, Abrar Khaled Abdul Aziz Al-Hanani, Alaa Jabri Mohammed Mahdi, Maria Qasim Madhish Mohammed, Ahoud Afif Mohammed Ali, Reem Adel Bajash Al-Hamati, Shaimaa Mohammed Fares Shajaa, and Zainab Hassan Saleh Baslan. The principal supervisor was Professor Muammar Badi, the internal examiner was Professor Waleed Al-Dabaai, and the external examiner was Dr. Amal Sabra.

 

The fourth project: Research into the level of knowledge and attitudes towards basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) among medical students, which recommended the inclusion of regular training programs within the curriculum.

 

This project was submitted by the following students: Bakr Abdullah Hamoud Al-Muhammadi, Hamed Yahya Hamed Shamarikh, Amjad Mohammed Musad Ali Musad, Ayman Ahmed Ali Hazam, Hunaid Zaid Ali Saleh Makhrama, Ahmed Ali Ahmed Al-Lugha, Al-Hussein Abdul Moneim Ali Al-Jahouri, Hazza Saleh Ali Al-Lugha, Mohammed Majed Mohammed Al-Bahr, and Samer Essam Abdullah Faqira. Principal Supervisor: Dr. Labiba Aref; Internal Examiner: Prof. Dr. Waleed Al-Daba’i; External Examiner: Dr. Abbas Rajih.

 

Project Five: A study of the knowledge, practices, and attitudes related to first aid skills among medical students, emphasizing the need to focus on systematic practical training.

 

Project submitted by students: Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Nasser Al-Jariri, Amr Mohammed Ghaleb Al-Maghribi, Fawaz Khaled Ahmed Ahmed Al-Qahif, Younis Ahmed Mohammed Al-Qahali, Hamza Ali Yahya Hazam Al-Qahali, Mustafa Othman Hassan Al-Qala’a, Wajid Sadiq Ahmed Shua’i Suwar, and Khattab Lotf Mohammed Ali. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Muammar Badi (Internal Supervisor), Prof. Dr. Waleed Al-Daba’i (External Supervisor), and Dr. Labiba An’am.

المشروع السادس: بحث عوامل الخطورة المرتبطة باضطراب طيف التوحد لدى الأطفال الصغار، والذي أبرز التأثير المشترك للعوامل الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والصحية، والحاجة إلى تحسين رعاية الأم والطفل والتدخل المبكر. 

 

المشروع مقدم من الطالبات: عهود عبدالله عوبل صالح، فاطمة زكريا أحمد محرم، حماس عبدالرب محمد المقدشي، ملاك حسين محمد قطابش، عُلا عبدالرحمن حسن الحسني، رغد محمد حسن خالد، ريم أحمد محمد الجبني، ريهام عبدالجبار قاسم السبئي. ومن إشراف د. عبير الوشلي ، المناقش الخارجي: د.لبيبة أنعم، المناقش الداخلي: أ.د. وليد الدبعي. 

 

وقد نالت المشاريع إشادة واسعة من لجان المناقشة وقيادة الكلية، لما تميزت به من عمق علمي، ومنهجية بحثية دقيقة، وارتباط مباشر بقضايا صحية واقعية، عكست مستوى الكفاءة والجدية التي يتمتع بها طلبة الطب البشري في الجامعة. 

 

وتأتي هذه الأيام العلمية ضمن توجه كلية الطب والعلوم الصحية نحو تعزيز ثقافة البحث العلمي، وتشجيع الابتكار، وإعداد كوادر طبية مؤهلة علمياً ومهنياً، قادرة على الإسهام بفاعلية في تطوير القطاع الصحي وخدمة المجتمع.
