As part of its strategic vision aimed at establishing a culture of quality and institutional excellence, the Emirates International University launched the “Quality Ambassadors in the Student Community” training program this morning, Saturday, with a large attendance from the university leadership and its academic and administrative staff. This significant step reflects the university’s deep belief in the student’s role as an active and pivotal partner in developing the educational process, ensuring its quality, and promoting continuous improvement practices according to the latest concepts in higher education.
In his opening remarks, the university president, Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, emphasized that the Emirates International University’s academic vision stems from a firm belief that the student is no longer merely a recipient of knowledge, but has become a fundamental element in evaluating the quality of education and improving its outcomes. He pointed out that the Quality Ambassadors program embodies this modern approach in higher education management and enhances the student’s role in supporting academic accreditation and building a leading university reputation locally and regionally.
The university president explained that the program is part of a comprehensive system the university is working on to enhance academic and administrative performance and to establish quality as a daily practice and a sustainable institutional behavior, not merely a formality.
For his part, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, spoke about the program's general framework and training modules. He explained that the program, which was prepared and implemented under the supervision of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, aims to build institutional student awareness of the concepts of quality and academic accreditation, and to empower students to exercise their evaluative role consciously and responsibly, thus contributing to the continuous improvement of academic programs and student services.
Al-Hamdi pointed out that the concept of quality in higher education is not limited to coursework, but also includes the quality of teaching, curricula, learning outcomes, student and administrative services, the university environment and infrastructure, in addition to the quality of assessment and feedback. He emphasized that involving students in this system enhances transparency and enriches the academic decision-making process.
The six-day program, designed for student quality ambassadors, includes a range of specialized training modules, such as: quality concepts and academic accreditation, the university's quality assurance system, the student's role in evaluation and improvement, student leadership skills, organizing awareness events, professional report writing, data collection and analysis tools, and privacy ethics. These modules will be delivered through practical workshops.
The program aims to empower students as partners in quality assurance, promote a culture of institutional excellence, support continuous improvement plans within the colleges, and develop student leaders equipped with communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. These leaders will be able to represent their peers professionally and build effective links between students and quality assurance units.
The program is expected to have a broad positive impact at all levels. It will empower students to acquire leadership skills needed in the job market, enhance the university's academic reputation and its sustainable accreditation, and provide the job market with qualified graduates who possess a culture of quality, thus increasing public confidence in higher education outcomes.
The "Quality Ambassadors in the Student Community" program underscores the Emirates International University's commitment to keeping pace with modern transformations in higher education and establishing a participatory university model that places the student at the heart of the quality process and as an active voice in the journey of development and excellence.
