The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the International Emirates University organized a scientific symposium for students of the Medical Laboratory Department on "Interpreting Blood Disease Results and Interpreting Malignant Tumor Markers", in the presence of the Head of the Medical Laboratory Department, Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Ghouri, and the Academic Coordinator of the Department, Dr. Safaa Darwish.
The symposium was attended by Dr. Mahfouz Hazza, Dr. Fahim Al-Sabati, and Dr. Amer Wahan, specialists in blood diseases and tumors. The symposium addressed the latest developments in the field of diagnosing these diseases, and the importance of laboratory tests in their early detection.
This symposium comes within the framework of the college's keenness to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with scientific developments in the field of medical laboratories, and to qualify them to work efficiently in health institutions. The symposium witnessed wide participation from students who showed great interest in the topics presented.
During the seminar, students learned about the types of blood cancers, types of blood anemia, and the indications of malignant tumors and their importance in following up on the patient's treatment. They also learned about the latest technologies used in diagnosing blood diseases and tumors, and trained them to accurately interpret the results of laboratory tests and link them to the patient's clinical condition. They also highlighted the importance of early detection of these diseases in improving the chances of recovery, and exchanging experiences between specialist doctors and students.
