The workshop was attended by the university president, Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, who addressed the students with an inspiring speech. He emphasized the importance of the role played by quality ambassadors as an effective link between students and university administration. He stressed that investing in building leadership, communication, and report writing skills is a fundamental pillar in supporting continuous development and improvement, and in preparing conscious student leaders capable of assuming responsibility and participating positively in decision-making.
The workshop was also attended by the Dean of the Development and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, along with the center's staff and quality assurance officers from the colleges. They emphasized that this workshop is part of a series of training activities aimed at equipping quality ambassadors with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to perform their duties with high efficiency and professionalism.
The workshop, presented by Professor Jamila Al-Sharjabi, Head of the Strategic Planning Unit at the Development and Quality Assurance Center, addressed three main themes. The first theme focused on leadership and the qualities of a leader. It reviewed the concept of leadership and distinguished it from management, emphasizing the traits and skills that characterize a successful leader. It also discussed common mistakes that leaders may make that negatively impact teamwork, and presented practical case studies that helped connect theoretical concepts to the student experience.
The second theme focused on student leadership skills, covering organizing meetings, managing dialogue within them, resolving student problems, dealing with diverse personalities, and negotiation and persuasion skills. This session included discussions of real-life examples from the student environment, highlighting common mistakes in meeting management and communication, thus contributing to raising students' leadership awareness and developing their practical skills.
The third session focused on professional report writing. It covered the elements of a good report, mechanisms for formulating student issues professionally and objectively, and methods for preparing realistic and actionable recommendations. It also reviewed the most common errors in report writing. The session concluded with a final practical application that reinforced the acquired concepts and strengthened the practical skills of the quality ambassadors.
The workshop witnessed remarkable student engagement through discussions and practical participation, which deepened their practical understanding of the topics presented and helped achieve the workshop's objectives of preparing more aware and efficient quality ambassadors capable of actively contributing to the development of the university environment and supporting quality initiatives and institutional excellence.
