In line with the mission of the Emirates International University to support scientific research and develop its academic staff according to the highest scientific standards, Dr. Naseem Tawfiq Yahya Amer, Coordinator of the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the Emirates International University, achieved a distinguished scientific accomplishment by obtaining a Master's degree in Pharmacology and Therapeutics with distinction from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana'a University.

This followed the successful public defense of her dissertation entitled:

"Assessing the Antinociceptive Effect of Capparis cartilaginea Leaf Extract and Investigating its Possible Mechanism of Action"

The dissertation was supervised by Professor Dr. Hassan Mohammed Al-Mahbashi, Professor of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sana'a University, and Professor Dr. Bushra Abdul Karim Muharram, Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Sana'a University.

The defense was attended by a specialized scientific committee comprised of leading academics and researchers. The committee commended the dissertation's high scientific level, advanced research methodology, and the significance of its findings in the field of modern pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical research.

This study aimed to evaluate the analgesic activity of Capparis cartilaginea leaf extract and to identify the potential mechanisms responsible for this effect. It employed an integrated scientific methodology combining biological studies on animal models, phytochemical analysis, molecular docking techniques, and network pharmacology analysis, reflecting the use of the latest scientific tools and contemporary research techniques in the study of medicinal plants.

The study results showed that the plant extract possesses clear and promising analgesic efficacy, acting through multiple pharmacological mechanisms targeting pain and inflammation pathways in the body. Furthermore, computational analyses revealed precise scientific explanations for the potential molecular mechanisms of the active compounds present in the plant, most notably the compound Hepta-1, which demonstrated promising therapeutic potential warranting further research and development.

In her recommendations, the researcher emphasized the importance of conducting advanced pharmacological and molecular studies, isolating the active compounds, and studying their pharmacological properties more comprehensively. This will contribute to leveraging medicinal plants as promising natural sources for developing safer and more effective pain medications in the future.

This outstanding academic achievement reflects the Emirates International University's commitment to investing in human capital and encouraging its academic and administrative staff to pursue further scientific and research development, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of education, scientific research, and community service.

The Emirates International University extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Naseem Tawfiq Yahya Amer on receiving her Master's degree with distinction. The university wishes her continued success and further scientific contributions, and hopes this achievement marks a new milestone in her distinguished and innovative academic and research career.
