In an academic setting reflecting the development of educational outcomes and the quality of technical training, the Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a unique and innovative graduation project by students from the Information Technology Department at the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The project, titled “SentView,” is a smart application for analyzing emotions on social media and was submitted as part of the graduation projects required for a Bachelor's degree for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The project, prepared by students Emad Al-Din Al-Khalidi, Hussam Al-Karimi, and Abdulrahman Hisham, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani, presented an advanced model combining artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and data analysis techniques. This reflects the high level of practical and technical training possessed by students at the Emirates International University.
The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani and Professor Dr. Hisham Aqlan, in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Farea, and a number of academics and interested parties.
The project comes in response to the massive expansion of textual content circulating on social media platforms. The students developed a smart, multi-platform application capable of analyzing emotions and classifying texts into positive, negative, or neutral feelings with high accuracy. It also provides an interactive chatbot that helps users understand the analysis results and utilize them practically and professionally.
The system is also distinguished by its ability to retrieve and analyze YouTube comments using modern artificial intelligence techniques and the BERTopic model. In addition, it analyzes various messages, speeches, and texts, providing accurate and interactive statistics on the nature of emotions and general trends in the content.
The team relied on a range of cutting-edge global technologies in implementing the project, most notably Flutter for developing cross-platform user interfaces, FastAPI and Python for building the backend server and sentiment analysis systems, and PostgreSQL for highly efficient data management. They also utilized Git and GitHub for development management and teamwork.
During the discussion, University President Professor Khaled Ahmed Salah praised the project's level and what it reflects in terms of the students' intellectual maturity and advanced technical capabilities. He emphasized that Emirates International University continues to invest in applied education and produce high-quality graduates capable of competing and keeping pace with digital transformations and the future needs of the job market.
This project exemplifies one of the inspiring models that confirms Emirates International University's commitment to fostering an environment of innovation and scientific research, and empowering students to produce advanced technological solutions that contribute to serving society and confidently and efficiently shaping the digital future.
