"My Event" Project: Student Innovation Transforms Event Planning Challenges into a Comprehensive Digital Experience

In an academic setting reflecting the quality of educational outcomes and their genuine relevance to community needs, the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences at the Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a distinguished graduation project by students from the Management Information Systems Department, entitled "My Event Platform," as part of the requirements for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in the specialization.
The project was the fruit of a joint scientific and applied effort by students: Ahmed Hisham Ghazi Hazam Al-Shumairi, Alawi Faris Alawi Al-Arami, Dharar Mujahid Ali Mohammed Farhan, Nawar Faisal Al-Shaibani, and Mohammed Aqlan, under the high-level academic supervision of Dr. Ashwaq Al-Jaboubi and Engineer Safaa Al-Bahlouli.
The discussion committee consisted of a distinguished group of academics, chaired by Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ghilan, Head of the Management Information Systems Department, and including Dr. Safwan Al-Shaibani, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Haddad, Dr. Fahmi Al-Daqaf, Head of the Accounting and Financial and Banking Sciences Departments, and Ms. Samah Hassan. The committee commended the project's high quality and the students' demonstrated scientific and practical competence.
The "My Event" project stems from a deep understanding of the digital transformations occurring in societies, particularly in the events and weddings sector, which is considered one of the most complex sectors due to its diverse services and interconnected decision-making processes. Given the local market's heavy reliance on traditional methods, the project aims to provide a unified digital platform that simplifies the search, comparison, and booking process.
The platform offers a comprehensive experience, starting with smart, filtered searches based on city, category, price, and ratings. It then provides a detailed overview of event providers' services (venues, photography, beauty, catering, etc.), culminating in seamless and reliable management of bookings, communication, and order tracking.
The project is based on building a transparent digital environment that enhances user trust through a clear rating system, service provider verification mechanisms, and organized policy presentations. It also contributes to empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing effective digital marketing tools and dashboards for managing services and orders, thus supporting their growth and expansion.
