With the participation of the Emirates International University... Launch of the General Holy Quran Competition among Yemeni Universities

In a spiritual atmosphere imbued with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research's Higher Education and Scientific Research sector launched the General Holy Quran Competition among Yemeni universities. The competition, held from the 12th to the 18th of Ramadan, is hosted by 21 September University, with the participation of 18 public and private universities from various governorates.
The competition features a distinguished Quranic contest with approximately 123 male and female memorizers competing in five main categories: memorization of the entire Quran, 20 parts, 10 parts, five parts, and recitation. This reflects the Yemeni universities' commitment to the Holy Quran in terms of memorization, recitation, and contemplation.
The Emirates International University was represented with distinction at this Quranic event by six of its memorization students: Amr Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jahoushi, Fadl Ahmed Ali Abu Hamila, Bashar Mohammed Ghaleb Rubai, Khadija Ahmed Ali Al-Jabri, and Luli Aref Jaafar Baqatian. In the recitation category, student Abdullah Zaid Abdullah Awass participated, engaging in the competition with high faith and determination, reflecting the university's commitment to Quranic activities and programs aimed at developing students' character both academically and spiritually.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, who emphasized in his speech the importance of these competitions in instilling Quranic values among university students and strengthening their faith and national identity. He also commended the high level of participation from Yemeni universities.
The Director General of Activities at the Ministry – the body implementing the competitions – Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Dahhak, delivered a speech in which he explained that this competition is part of the Ministry's plan to enhance quality activities that refine students' skills, discover Quranic talents, and support the pursuit of academic and ethical excellence in higher education institutions.
Also present were the President of 21 September University, Dr. Mujahid Ma'asar, the Executive Director of the Information Technology Center, Dr. Fouad Abdulrazzaq, and a number of officials from the Ministry and related entities. Representing the university were Eng. Osama Hazam, Head of Activities, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Maghles, the Media Officer.
The competition is scheduled to conclude with an official ceremony during which the winners will be announced and prizes and certificates of appreciation will be distributed. This celebration will befit those who have memorized the Book of God and will reaffirm the esteemed position of the Holy Quran within the academic community.
Through its active participation, the Emirates International University affirms its continued commitment to nurturing its outstanding students in various fields, especially Quranic studies.
