This recognition came at the conclusion of the first Scientific Innovative Projects Forum, organized by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research – Higher Education Sector, from February 8-10, 2026.
This award was presented in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, and with broad official and academic participation, including several university presidents and their deputies, deans of faculties, and heads of departments, clearly affirming the importance of the event and the value of the achievement attained by Emirates International University.
The university earned this advanced ranking as a result of the high-quality innovative projects presented by its students, which reflected a high level of scientific creativity and the integration of academic knowledge with practical solutions that serve society and keep pace with the requirements of development and innovation.
The first-place shield was received on behalf of the university by the Vice President, Dr. Ahmed Abdulkarim Al-Badani, who expressed his pride in this achievement, emphasizing that the university has transformed graduation projects into genuine platforms for innovation and application, not merely academic requirements.
The university was also represented at the closing ceremony by a distinguished group of its academic leaders, including Dr. Ibrahim Farea, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology; Dr. Radwan Al-Badhiji, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department; Dr. Mohammed Al-Alfi, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department; Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Head of the Information Technology Department; Dr. Jamil Rashid, Head of the Cybersecurity Department; and Eng. On this occasion, the President of the Emirates International University, Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, extended his congratulations to the students, affirming that this first-place ranking was not achieved by chance, but rather is the result of institutional work and an educational vision that places the student at the heart of the educational process. He pointed out the university's pride in its students, who have proven that the Emirates International University is capable of competing and leading, and that graduation projects are not the end of a stage, but rather the beginning of a creative path that serves the nation and society.
This achievement confirms that the Emirates International University has become a leading model in the quality of higher education outcomes, and that its investment in scientific research and student innovation has yielded a first-place ranking nationally, sending a clear message that leadership is created when vision meets creativity.
It is worth noting that the Emirates International University participated in the first Innovative Projects Forum with five innovative projects presented by its students in strategic fields that touch human life and serve society. These projects included: The first project: An artificial intelligence project for the early detection of cancer through the automated segmentation and annotation of MRI and CT scan images, with 3D modeling of tumors, which contributes to supporting accurate medical diagnosis.
The second project: An integrated calibration device for neonatal intensive care units, combining the calibration of incubators, heating devices, and phototherapy equipment into a single, low-cost, and highly accurate unit to protect infants' lives and minimize technical errors.
The third project: A 3D concrete printer, an innovative engineering solution for construction automation, reducing implementation time and costs, and keeping pace with smart building technologies with a locally developed, applicable, and scalable design.
The fourth project: A low-cost, open-source, smart injector pump, designed locally to provide a safe and effective alternative to expensive medical devices, with intelligent control features serving hospitals and educational institutions.
The fifth project: An automated production line for biodiesel from waste cooking oil, a sustainable national project that contributes to environmental protection and economic growth, using advanced industrial control systems according to approved standards.
These projects collectively reflect the integration of engineering, technical, and medical knowledge, and the students' ability to transform scientific ideas into practical and applicable solutions, which rightfully earned the university first place.
