As part of its ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, the Department of Architecture at the Emirates International University organized a field trip for fourth-year students to the historic Haraz region. This trip, a requirement for the Building Regulations course, aimed to deepen students' practical understanding of the laws and regulations governing construction in environments with a unique heritage character.

The visit provided students with the opportunity to directly observe the unique urban fabric of Haraz and to study the application of building regulations in mountainous regions. The focus was on planning requirements, building heights, setback regulations, and the commitment to preserving the local architectural identity, which forms an integral part of the area's history and cultural heritage.

During the field visit, students analyzed existing architectural models, connecting the theoretical concepts they learned in the classroom to real-world applications. This contributed to enhancing their awareness of the importance of legislation in regulating urban development, protecting historic cities from distortion, and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.

The visit, supervised and accompanied by Engineer Saddam, was part of the approved academic framework of the course. It provided an enriching educational experience that underscored the importance of field learning in preparing architects with legal and professional awareness, and the ability to balance the demands of development with the preservation of authentic architectural identity.

Through these field-based scientific activities, the university affirms its commitment to graduating qualified engineers capable of understanding their surroundings, respecting their history, and creating an urban future that reflects authenticity while keeping pace with modernity.
