As part of the College of Financial and Administrative Sciences' commitment to integrating theoretical academic aspects with practical experience, the Fourth-Level Information Systems Department conducted two study visits to YemenSoft Company in Sana'a on Monday and Tuesday, September 29 and 30, 2025. They were accompanied by faculty members Ashwaq Al-Jaboubi and Safaa Al-Bahloli, and Academic Coordinator Mohammed Al-Kumaim.
The students were received by the company's Director of Research and Development, Mr. Ahmed Abdul-Azim Al-Omari, who welcomed them and reviewed the company's journey from its founding in 1993 to the present day. He explained its local and international presence, the number of its employees, the scope of its clients, and its leading position in the Yemeni and Arab markets.
The visit included a presentation of the company's most prominent systems, including the Integrated Plus system and the Onyx system, as well as an introduction to its partnerships with major international companies such as Microsoft and Oracle. The students also learned about the software project lifecycle, from design, through review, coding, and testing, all the way to the final product.
During the meeting, company officials reviewed the company's outstanding achievements, including obtaining its first ISO 9001 certification in 2000, followed by ISO 20000, as well as its efforts to obtain other international accreditations such as CMM. The students also had the opportunity to view samples of the company's documents and internal procedures, and learn about the most prominent challenges it has faced and how it deals with local and international markets.
The students also learned about the company's administrative structure and the roles of its various departments, especially the Research and Development Department, which serves as a link between clients, programmers, and the labor market. At the end of the visit, a session was devoted to explaining the mechanisms of managing technical projects, including establishing the general framework for the project, pre-implementation steps, and the types of risks and how to deal with them.
The students expressed their happiness with this experience, which allowed them to connect the theoretical knowledge they learned in the classroom with practical realities in the software work environment. This enhanced their experience and applied skills, and gave them a clearer awareness of the requirements of the job market and the opportunities for success within it.
