In an academic setting that encompassed humanitarian, Islamic, Arab, and national dimensions, the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, in coordination with the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at Emirates International University, organized a cultural symposium this Sunday morning entitled: "The Palestinian Cause and the Role of Yemeni Universities in Supporting Gaza."
The symposium opened with a speech by University President Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, who emphasized that the Palestinian cause is the central issue of the nation, emphasizing the importance of the role of academic institutions in creating responsible student awareness of the nation's issues. University Secretary-General Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash also delivered a speech in which he noted that Yemeni universities have been and continue to be a vital platform for supporting Palestinian rights.
The working papers were divided into six main themes, during which academics reviewed various dimensions of the issue:
The first theme addressed the political and legal dimensions, presented by Dr. Khaled Salah, President of the University, addressed the political dimensions of the Arab-Israeli conflict and reviewed a number of international resolutions that ignored Palestinian rights. He emphasized that supporting Gaza is inseparable from the people's struggle against double standards.
The second theme, "The Humanitarian and Academic Dimension," was presented by Dr. Mohammed Al-Kahali, Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences. He highlighted the scale of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and the responsibility it imposes on universities to prepare informed generations capable of translating the values of justice and humanity into research projects and student initiatives.
The third theme, "The Administrative Dimension," was presented by Prof. Abdullah Al-Qurashi, Head of the Department of International Business Administration. He discussed the importance of sound governance in directing university resources and capabilities toward serving the Palestinian cause through institutionalized student plans, programs, and activities.
The fourth theme, "Future Visions and the Role of Universities," was presented by Assistant Professor Jabr Al-Sanabani, Head of the Department of Business Administration. He envisioned the future role of universities in promoting awareness of the Palestinian cause through curricula and research activities. He noted that universities can be platforms for producing resistance thought that supports the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
The fifth theme, "The Technological Dimension and Social Communication," was presented by Assistant Professor Mukhtar Ghilan, Head of the Department of Management Information Systems. He discussed how technology and social media have become an effective weapon in confronting the Zionist narrative, emphasizing the need for university youth to contribute to electronic campaigns that convey Gaza's voice to the world.
The sixth theme, "The Discussion," was widely discussed and engaged the audience. Participants offered practical visions for strengthening pro-Palestine activities within the university.
The symposium was moderated by Professor Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, and Dr. Fahmi Al-Daqqaf, Head of the Departments of Accounting and Financial and Banking Sciences. The contributions were distinguished by their intellectual richness and relevance to the nation's reality and challenges.
The symposium, attended by the university's vice president, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, deans of colleges, faculty members, academic and administrative staff, and students, concluded with several recommendations. These recommendations emphasized that Yemeni universities are not merely educational institutions, but rather incubators for awareness and position-building. Their responsibility toward the Palestinian cause requires activating scientific research, student activities, and the use of technology and new media to enhance solidarity with the Palestinian people and support their just cause.
