In a creative atmosphere brimming with artistic flair and visual innovation, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the Emirates International University witnessed the submission of projects by first-year interior design engineering students in the "Architectural Design 1" course. This foundational course contributes to building design thinking and aesthetic taste among students. This presentation was held under the supervision of Dr. Shura Al Awadhi, the course instructor, and teaching assistant, Engineer Ruqayya Rashid Al Khalifi.
The students presented a variety of projects that reflected their ability to grasp the basic principles of design and employ elements of interior space, color balance, lighting, and aesthetic proportions through freehand drawings, illustrative models, and innovative digital presentations. The projects ranged from simple interior space designs to miniature models that express the aesthetic and functional awareness required by this delicate artistic field.
This academic activity highlights the modern educational environment, advanced curricula, and specialized academic staff provided by the Emirates International University. These enable students to express their design ideas with high efficiency and professionalism from the earliest levels of study, reflecting the quality of education and the solid academic foundation of the college.
The submission process saw each student present a detailed presentation about their project, including the concept, implementation mechanism, and the challenges they faced. This provided space for open discussion between students and faculty, creating an educational environment conducive to constructive criticism and the exchange of opinions, enriching the student experience and enhancing their ability to develop their ideas in the future.
This step comes within the framework of the college's efforts to develop students' practical skills from the outset and to strengthen the connection between theory and practice, in line with the university's vision of preparing distinguished engineering competencies capable of contributing to the development of the aesthetic and functional landscape of interior spaces locally and regionally.
