Consolidating its position as an educational institution that keeps pace with technological developments and supports student innovation, the Emirates International University hosted today, Sunday, a discussion of a unique graduation project for students from the Information Security Department, titled "A System for Securing and Protecting Automated Systems within Institutions." The project was supervised by Dr. Jameel Rashid, Head of the Cybersecurity Department.
The project was submitted by students: Ahmed Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah, Mustafa Amer Omar Khaled, Mohammed Ahmed Yahya Al-Qadi, Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Samat, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al-Sabai, and Asim Abdullah Mohammed Al-Saidi. They presented an integrated system based on modern information security technologies to manage the document cycle within institutions in an automated and secure manner using an easy-to-use Android application.
The project aims to enhance data protection and prevent unauthorized access through an advanced security system that includes: a robust authorization system (RBAC) for access management, two-factor authentication using fingerprint and OTP, encryption of sensitive documents and data, comprehensive logging of system operations and activities, and employee attendance management via GPS and biometric authentication.
The team followed an Agile methodology in developing the project, enabling them to execute the work phases with high efficiency through flexible development cycles that included analysis, design, programming using Dart and SQL, testing, review, and pilot launch.
The project was characterized by its professional organization, as tasks were distributed among team members according to their skills. There was an analysis team, another for programming, and another specialized in system security, in addition to a documentation team that prepared all documents and reports.
The discussion committee consisted of: Dr. Jameel Rashid, Head of the Cybersecurity Department; Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al-Hijami, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department; Dr. Malik Al-Jabri, a faculty member in the department; and Eng. Alia Al-Arassi, the department's academic coordinator. Dr. Ahmed Yafaa, Head of the Architecture and Interior Design Department, also attended. This project embodies the vision of the Emirates International University to graduate technical cadres capable of designing smart and secure solutions that meet labor market requirements and serve the digital transformation of institutions.
