In a step that reflects the creativity and excellence of UAE International University students, students from the Department of Information Technology in the College of Engineering and Information Technology presented an innovative graduation project titled "Smart Traffic Management System." The project was attended and honored by the University President, Dr. Nasser Hadi Al-Muwafari, and the Secretary-General, Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash. The discussion was also attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Ibrahim Farea; the Head of the Information Technology Department, Dr. Farouq Al-Fahidi; the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al-Hijami, the project supervisor; Engineer Muhannad Al-Mashriqi; the Assistant Project Supervisor, Engineer Ahlam Al-Hamdani; and a number of College of Engineering staff.
This project represents a qualitative leap in the field of traffic management, as it relies on the use of the latest artificial intelligence technologies and smart cameras to automatically and accurately monitor and document traffic violations, highlighting the students' ability to provide innovative technical solutions to societal challenges.
The innovative system is based on tracking common traffic violations such as speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, and using a mobile phone while driving. To enhance effective communication, the system includes a specially designed electronic application that sends instant notifications to users, enabling them to view violation details, pay fines electronically, and submit objections and complaints with ease.
During their presentation of the project, the students demonstrated a vision for the future that goes beyond mere monitoring. They emphasized that this system forms the core of a smart traffic system that is scalable and integrated with other transportation and monitoring systems in cities. It also contributes to enhancing transparency, reducing reliance on manual procedures, and providing highly efficient digital traffic services.
For his part, the University President, Dr. Nasser Al-Muwafari, praised the high spirit of innovation embodied in this project, considering it a model to emulate in linking scientific research with practical solutions that serve society. He emphasized that the University is proud of its students who are capable of presenting such creative ideas that open new horizons in various fields.
Secretary-General Dr. Fouad Hanash expressed his happiness with the level of innovation demonstrated by the students, emphasizing the university's continued support for student projects that add value to society and contribute to development.
This project reflects the ambition and great potential of Emirates International University students in the field of information technology and underscores their role in providing innovative solutions that contribute to building a smarter and safer future. The student team hopes their project will have a tangible impact on the traffic sector at the national level and demonstrate the potential of artificial intelligence applications in serving communities.
