In an academic display reflecting the high level of scientific excellence and technological innovation achieved by graduates of the UAE International University, the Information Technology Department witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project entitled "Balance: Nutrition and Yoga," presented by a group of students as part of their Bachelor of Science in Information Technology graduation projects, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al-Hajami.
The project, prepared by students Reem Sharaf Gharsan, Sarah Mohammed Al-Samawi, Sawsan Khalid Al-Sharjabi, and Nada Mohammed Al-Kafala, embodies an advanced model for employing artificial intelligence and big data to serve community health, through an integrated digital platform aimed at promoting health awareness and transforming it into sustainable and safe daily practices.
The “Tawazun” app relies on advanced smart technologies to provide personalized nutrition and yoga solutions tailored to each user’s individual needs. The smart nutrition system analyzes biometric data—such as age, weight, and medical conditions—using machine learning algorithms like “random forests” to deliver accurate and safe nutritional recommendations. It achieves a 94.14% accuracy rate in meal classification, supported by a smart safety filter that prevents any potential health conflicts or allergic reactions.
The project also includes an interactive yoga platform that allows users to book live sessions with certified instructors. This platform combines digital guidance with human expertise within a safe and reliable environment, contributing to the prevention of chronic diseases and improving quality of life.
Technically, the project reflects an advanced level of software development and engineering. It was developed using a multi-layered architecture with Flutter, ASP.NET Core, and SQL Server technologies, resulting in smooth performance, high scalability, and future development capabilities. Furthermore, it achieves significant economic efficiency, reducing operating costs by more than 85% compared to traditional healthcare methods.
The discussion committee, comprised of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani and Professor Dr. Malek Al-Jabri, commended the project's scientific and technical level, as well as the students' ability to present a comprehensive digital solution that reflects the high quality of academic and practical training that Emirates International University is committed to instilling in its various programs.
This project is an extension of the university's approach to producing high-quality graduates capable of competing and innovating, by linking academic knowledge with practical application and empowering students to develop projects that keep pace with global digital transformations and contribute to serving the community and sustainable development.
