The Biomedical Engineering Department Discusses Preliminary Applied Scientific Projects by Second-Year Students Reflecting the Integration of Engineering and Medical Technology

As part of the Biomedical Engineering Department's commitment to enhancing practical application and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice, the department hosted discussions of a distinguished group of preliminary scientific projects presented by second-year students. These projects showcased a remarkable diversity of ideas and a depth of engineering in their application of modern medical and technological techniques.

These projects were part of the requirements for the Electronics and Biomedical Equipment and Measurement courses. Through them, students sought to translate theoretical concepts into practical models that address the needs of the healthcare and engineering sectors and keep pace with the rapid advancements in medical device technologies.

The presented projects ranged from smart solutions in the fields of safety, medical diagnosis, rehabilitation, and energy. Among the most prominent was the Firefighting Robot project, presented by students Ziad Hamid Al-Joubi, Omar Samir Al-Yamani, Firas Al-Rabasi, and Mohammed Al-Shaibani. This project aims to design an intelligent robot capable of intervening in hazardous environments, thereby enhancing safety standards and reducing human risks. 

Electromagnetic Muscle Signaling (EMG) Project: By students Ahmed Najib Jahara, Anas Abdulghani Al-Sharabi, Nashwan Jabran Al-Muhammadi, and Adel Saleh Al-Awdi. This project focused on reading and analyzing muscle signals and their use in medical and rehabilitation applications.

Blood Oxygen Saturation Measurement Project: Presented by students Hamdan Al-Hamdani, Osama Mujeeb Al-Shaarani, and Mohammed Al-Hadi. This project is directly related to medical diagnosis and monitoring vital signs.

Centrifuge and Sun Tracking Device Project: By students Abdullah Fouad, Abdullah Makharish, and Mohammed Al-Majidi. This project combined medical applications with engineering concepts related to renewable energy.

Artificial Arm Project: By students Abdulwahab Noman and Mohammed Al-Zarari. This project embodies the human dimension of medical equipment engineering and its role in improving patients' quality of life.

Sun Tracking Using Arduino Project: By students Taher Al-Habashi, Ahmed Al-Mashdali, and Mashhour Al-Haddad. This project aims to enhance the efficiency of smart systems using programmable logic controller (PLC) technology. Laser Cutting Alarm and Muscle Stimulation Device Project: By students Saleh Al-Bahshali, Mohammed Al-Rousi, and Abdulrahman Al-Amri, this project addressed medical safety and physical therapy using electrical stimulation.

Heart Rate Monitor Project: Presented by student Ibrahim Al-Kabsi, this individual project demonstrated the student's ability to design and implement a medical system for accurately measuring vital signs.

Fire Detection System Project: Presented by students Abdulrahman Al-Khadhmi, Adel Al-Awdi, and Marwan Al-Masri, this project aimed to design an intelligent system for monitoring and early detection of fires using electronic sensors.

These projects demonstrated an advanced level of scientific understanding, innovation, and teamwork, reflecting the quality of educational outcomes of the Biomedical Engineering Department and its commitment to preparing qualified engineering professionals capable of serving the healthcare sector and the community.

These scientific activities align with the department's and university's vision of building high-quality applied education that meets the demands of the job market and enhances the university's position as a leading educational institution in the engineering, medical, and administrative fields.
