With God's grace and guidance, and based on the Almighty's words: {And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.} (Quran 3:169), and within the framework of the activities and events organized by the University to commemorate the anniversary of the martyr for the year 1447 AH, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Emirates International University organized a symposium today, Tuesday, 20 Jumada al-Ula 1447 AH, entitled: "Martyrdom: A Great Divine Gift and Eternal Glory."
At the opening of the symposium, University President Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah delivered a speech in which he emphasized that commemorating the martyrs represents a spiritual and educational milestone that restores to the nation the meanings of steadfastness and resilience. He pointed out that martyrdom in the cause of God is the pinnacle of faith, a source of pride and honor for all the free people of the nation, and evidence of the vitality of peoples who forge their glory through awareness and sacrifice.
The symposium was presented by cultural activist Abu Haroun, who spoke with profound conviction about the sublime meanings of martyrdom and its exalted status with God Almighty. He explained that it is not a loss but an eternal life in the shade of divine dignity, and that it expresses the highest form of sacrifice and selflessness in the cause of truth, freedom, and honor.
The symposium concluded by emphasizing the importance of drawing lessons from the lives of the martyrs in remaining steadfast in principle, striving in the cause of God and in building the nation and serving society, so that loyalty to their sacrifices remains a practical approach in the fields of life, knowledge, and work.
The symposium was attended by the University's Secretary General, Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash, the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Saleh Al-Dhaheri, the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Sadiq Abdulmughni, several heads of academic departments and faculty members, as well as a group of students who actively engaged with the symposium's themes, offering insightful contributions that reflected their awareness and connection to the spirit of belonging and religious responsibility.
