Launch of Advanced First Aid Course for Students of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Cooperation with the Yemeni Red Crescent

The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Emirates International University witnessed the launch of an intensive training course in advanced first aid for students of the Department of Human Medicine, at the pre-clinical level, on Monday. The course was held in cooperation with the Yemen Red Crescent Society and the university's Training and Rehabilitation Center. The course was attended by Professor Sadiq Abdul-Mughni, Vice Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Human Medicine; Dr. Maha Al-Muntasir, Academic Coordinator of the College; Engineer Fathi Salman, Head of the Training and Rehabilitation Center; and representatives of the Yemeni Red Crescent and their certified trainers for the training course.
The three-day course aims to provide students with advanced skills and knowledge in the field of first aid, enabling them to deal with various emergencies and injuries they may encounter in their professional and community lives.
During the launch, Dr. Sadiq Abdul-Mughni, Head of the Department of Human Medicine, emphasized the importance of this course in qualifying the department's students and providing them with the practical skills necessary to deal with emergency situations before moving on to the clinical phase. He noted that this course falls within the framework of the university's commitment to providing the best services to its students and equipping them with the knowledge and skills that enable them to benefit during the clinical phase and serve their community.
Approximately 200 male and female students from various levels in the Department of Human Medicine are participating in the course. They were divided into groups to receive theoretical and practical training from a select group of trainers specializing in first aid from the Yemeni Red Crescent.
The course, taught by Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Sharif, Dr. Ahmed Al-Julbi, Dr. Manal Al-Raboui, Dr. Afnan Al-Julbi, Dr. Bushra, and Dr. Kamal Al-Kamel, covers a wide range of important topics, such as needles, surgical procedures, and sutures, in addition to basic skills such as rapid examination of the injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway obstruction and suffocation, mass casualties, pediatric emergencies, and other related topics.
