Discussing graduation research for the fourth batch of the Department of Medical Laboratories for the academic year 1443 AH corresponding to 2021/ 2022

The Department of Medical Laboratories at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the university discussed this Thursday morning the graduation research for the fourth batch students of the university year 1443 AH corresponding to 2021-2022 AD. In the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Ghouri, faculty members in the department, members of the discussion committees and research supervisors. The public discussion was also attended by a number of male and female students from the department and a number of medical departments in the college to benefit from the research presented because of its scientific benefit that serves students and the community.
Where the first group presented their graduation paper entitled: "The spread of infectious diseases among blood donors in the National Center for Central Public Health Laboratories - Sana'a - Yemen". The discussion and judging committee consisted of: Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Ghouri - Head of Department, Chief Supervisor, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Ilah Al-Harazi - Director General of the National Center for Central Public Health Laboratories, External Examiner, and Prof. Dr. Taha Al-Nasari, Professor of Bacterial and Immunology - UAE University Internal Examiner .
The study concluded that the prevalence of infectious diseases among blood donors is more than 10%, and most of these diseases are viral hepatitis B type, followed by type C, and the least prevalent is syphilis.
While the second student group presented their research entitled: "Reference values of lipids in adult Yemeni males." The discussion and judging committee consisted of: Prof. Dr. Walid Al-Dubai - Head of the Biochemistry Department - UAE University, Principal Supervisor, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Al-Garafi - Head of Clinical Pharmacy Department - UAE University External Examiner, and Prof. Hafez Al-Nod - Professor of Hematology UAE University Internal Examiner.
The study concluded that the reference values for fats in Yemeni adult males were close to the reference values in Arab and international countries, with the presence of some factors affecting them, especially in the Yemeni community environment. The study also reached a mathematical equation for calculating the value of quaternary fats for Yemeni patients.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the head of the Medical Laboratories Department, Prof. Dr. / Abdel Basset Al-Ghoury, and on behalf of the faculty staff, thanked the Director General of the Central Public Health Laboratories, Prof. Dr. / Abdel-Ilah Al-Harazi, who was cooperative in responding to the university’s invitation to him as an external debater, who in turn expressed his willingness to cooperate with the university In various health fields and encourage such targeted research to serve the student and society.
