Today, Monday, the university campus witnessed an awareness event to prevent cancer diseases and the importance of early detection, which was organized by Global Care for Development in partnership with the Emirates International University. A team from the organization, in cooperation with university students, had set up various clinics, including the functional foods clinic and its awareness and advisory role in foods that protect and reduce the risk of cancer, and the awareness clinic about the harms of smoking and its relationship to chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease, as well as the clinic for weights, the clinical nutrition advisory clinic, the safety and security clinic and its services. advisory. The last awareness and advisory clinic was the Hormones and Vaccines Clinic, in which awareness was raised about the importance of vaccines (Hepatitis B virus) and its role in preventing cancer, in addition to raising awareness of some hormones and their link to cancer. Awareness was also raised about the importance of early diagnosis and detection of cancer, which increases the chances of treatment by 60%. The team also raised awareness in the classrooms and distributed awareness and educational brochures to prevent disease, and the awareness clinics witnessed a great turnout by male and female students. At the conclusion of the awareness event, Global Care awarded the university president, Dr. Naguib Al-Kumaim, a certificate of thanks and appreciation for the fruitful cooperation shown by the university in order to facilitate the implementation of this awareness mission and because the university attaches great importance to awareness and health activities within the framework of community service.
