The College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Emirates International University concluded its scientific days for the discussion of graduation projects for the eighth graduating class of the Department of Human Medicine on Sunday. The two-day event marked a significant scientific milestone, reflecting the high level of academic and research excellence demonstrated by the students.

The scientific days featured the discussion of 13 scientific graduation projects presented by approximately 124 students. These projects addressed pressing health and medical issues relevant to society and the healthcare system, encompassing epidemiological, clinical, and community health research, reflecting the students' awareness of public health priorities and current challenges.

The closing ceremony was attended by the University President, Dr. Khaled Ahmed Salah, who, in his address, expressed the university leadership's pride in the quality of the graduation projects. He commended the students' ability to utilize scientific research to serve national and humanitarian causes and praised the efforts of the college and its academic staff in preparing future doctors according to rigorous scientific standards.

Professor Al-Dhaheri delivered a speech expressing his pride in the high-quality research presented by the students, emphasizing that these projects represent the fruit of integrated academic and applied efforts and embody the faculty's mission of preparing conscious, responsible medical professionals capable of actively contributing to the development of the health sector.

Also in attendance were the Head of the Department of Human Medicine, Professor Dr. Sadiq Abdulmughni, along with members of the discussion and supervision committees, a number of faculty members and administrative staff, and a large gathering of students and their parents, reflecting the community's engagement with the outcomes of medical education.

The projects presented on the second day were distinguished by their focus on contemporary health issues relevant to Yemeni society and the health system. The first project, in particular, addressed the early complications of long bone fractures in adults, highlighting the importance of early assessment of risk factors and timely surgical intervention to minimize disability and improve clinical outcomes.

 The project was submitted by the students: Ayman Ali Ahmed Reis, Saqr Abdullah Azzi Kharjin, Essam Ibrahim Ibrahim Dawali, Kamal Essam Saleh Al-Shathbi, Magdi Qaid Ali Al-Hadi, Mohammed Eidrous Obaid, Mohsen Abdul-Hakim Mohsen Hassan, Hisham Mohammed Hassan Salem Gharbi, Yasser Ibrahim Yahya Hussein, and Yousef Ali Abdo Al-Ahdal. The second project addressed low birth weight in Sana'a, revealing an alarming prevalence rate and highlighting the interplay of medical, behavioral, and psychological factors. It emphasized the need to adopt an integrated healthcare model that supports the health, psychological, and nutritional well-being of both mother and child.

 The project was submitted by the students: Awad Rashad Abdo Mohsen Al-Fakhri, Osama Hussein Amer, Abdulghani Abdullah Mahdali, Abdulghani Ali Saeed, Mohammed Abdulrahman Jaafar, Ahmed Saeed Ahmed, Waseem Qasim Madhish, Mustafa Mohammed Al-Suraimi, Hussam Ali Al-Huwaisek, and Mohammed Hassan Al-Lamisi. The third project highlighted the problem of stunting among primary school students, considering it a silent health issue with far-reaching consequences. It called for early preventative interventions, including improving school nutrition, promoting health awareness, and enhancing preventative services.

This project was submitted by the students: Zaid Bashir Ahmed Abu Asba, Mohammed Ismail Al-Mutawakkil, Abdulrahman Al-Wasabi, Ahmed Jamil Al-Jubi, Mohammed Rajih Fadhel, Ammar Ahmed Al-Azeeq, Ahmed Al-Aqra, Anas Ali Al-Qubati, Abdullah Dhafer, and Adeeb Sultan Aqilan. Principal Supervisor: Dr. Noura Al-Awadhi, Internal Examiner: Prof. Saleh Al-Dhaheri, External Examiner: Dr. Amal Sabra.

The fourth project addressed the factors influencing delays in reaching the hospital for patients with acute myocardial infarction. It emphasized that weak health awareness and limited emergency services constitute major challenges that necessitate the development of community education programs and the strengthening of the ambulance system.

The project was presented by the students: Muhannad Muammar Mohammed Badi, Karim Mohammed Abdo Saif Al-Mashraqi, Iyad Mohammed Ayedh Al-Jaifi, Ali Majid Ali Al-Ghashmi, Hisham Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mawjani, Asaad Ali Nasser Al-Sabahi, Nabil Saleh Hussein Al-Daari, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed, Hadi Ahmed Hadi Al-Hashishi, and Taha Mohammed Abdullah Bari. Principal Supervisor: Prof. Muammar Badi, Internal Examiner: Prof. Abdulwase Al-Mujahid, External Examiner: Prof. Abbas Rajih.

The fifth project discussed the use of artificial intelligence in self-diagnosis among students in non-medical colleges, highlighting the potential opportunities and risks of this trend, and emphasizing the importance of digital health education and the responsible use of modern technologies.

The project was presented by the students: Aseel Amin Tarish Abdullah Al-Hammadi, Amjad Abdulmalik Mohammed Amin Al-Mufti, Aseel Wadih Abdo Al-Makhlafi, Abdullah Abdulkarim Ismail Al-Sabri, Mahmoud Khaled Mohammed Taha Naji, Adham Rajih Hamoud Rajih Saad, Abdulrahman Abdo Naji Al-Sharqi, Ibrahim Mohammed Marai Al-Marhabi, Ayman Ahmed Abdullah Siraj, and Marwan Ahmed Abdulhaq Ziyad. The principal supervisor was Dr. Noura Al-Awadhi, the internal examiner was Professor Saleh Al-Dhaheri, and the external examiner was Professor Ahmed Sultan Al-Hajami.

The sixth project addressed the reality of occupational safety and health among cleaning workers in government hospitals, revealing gaps in training and the availability of protective equipment, and highlighting the need for supportive institutional policies to protect this vital group from occupational hazards.

 The project was presented by the students: Samir Ahmed Abdullah Al-Walidi, Mohammed Tariq Yousef Khan, Bashar Mohammed Saleh Bahram, Mohammed Salem Ahmed Al-Malahi, Hamza Mansour Ali Al-Dhaibini, Hamza Mohammed Mohammed Al-Zahit, Rashad Ibrahim Yahya Maarouf, Farouk Nabil Mohammed Al-Saar, Qaed Salah Ahmed Al-Humaidi, and Adel Abdullah Omar Zaid. The principal supervisor was Dr. Labiba Anam, the internal examiner was Dr. Taha Al-Nassari, and the external examiner was Dr. Muammar Badi.

The projects concluded with a study on burnout among emergency and surgical physicians, which revealed a significant prevalence of occupational fatigue. The study emphasized the importance of providing a supportive work environment and intervention programs aimed at improving physician well-being and the quality of healthcare provided.

The project was presented by the female students: Noor Adel Mohammed Al-Arshi, Rawan Mohammed Ajlan, Zikra Abdullah Al-Saqqaf, Rahma Mohammed Al-Jahdari, Wedad Yahya Al-Kumaim, Haidy Aref Rawah, Heba Ali Al-Shammari, and Buthaina Abdul Aziz Al-Maghles. The examination committees unanimously agreed on the excellence of the projects in terms of scientific methodology, analytical accuracy, and the relevance of the results to real-world healthcare realities. They commended the students' ability to present studies of significant scientific and practical value, contributing important indicators and data to support decision-makers and the healthcare sector.

The organization of these scientific days comes within the framework of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Emirates International University's commitment to promoting a culture of scientific research, linking medical education to societal issues, and raising the scientific and professional competence of graduates. This contributes to preparing physicians who possess the knowledge, skills, and humanitarian commitment to their nation and community.
