Today, Thursday, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the university organized the activities of the Clinical Pharmacy Scientific Day, within the framework of the college's keenness to develop the capabilities of graduates in the field of clinical pharmacy, in a way that contributes to providing the best health services to the community.
During the opening, Dr. Nasser Al-Moufari, President of the University, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, and stressed the importance of organizing such events to improve the level of health care for patients. He also pointed out that the scientific day is an opportunity for students and graduates to learn about the latest developments in the field of clinical pharmacy, and to exchange experiences with experts and specialists in this field from the university's highly qualified cadres. He also stressed the need for students to participate in voluntary and charitable work that serves their community.
Following the opening speech, Dr. Mukhtar Al-Gharafi, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Design, reviewed the topics of the scientific seminars included in the scientific day, which included: intravenous solutions, errors in them and their types, research and results on this subject, and examples of them.
After that, the first symposium was launched, presented by Dr. Ali Al-Yahwi, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, in which he spoke about the role and responsibility of the clinical pharmacist in pharmaceutical care.
While the second symposium, presented by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Barihi, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy, touched on interactions between drugs and additives in intravenous solutions and the scientific methods used to avoid risks. The symposium also touched on the new tasks and functions of the general and clinical pharmacist and the four roles that were identified in the World Health Organization, which emphasize serving patients by following the health care system according to specialty.
The third symposium presented by Dr. Abdullah Saadallah focused on medical errors in intensive care and how to avoid them.
While the closing symposium was presented by Dr. Mukhtar Al-Gharafi, he talked about a summary of the important points and errors in intravenous solutions and reviewed the research that had been conducted and the results that help in correcting drug treatment in a scientific manner.
The aim of the scientific day is to contribute to raising the level of medical awareness among students and graduates in the field of clinical pharmacy, and to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide health care to patients.
The inauguration of the scientific day and scientific seminars was attended by a number of academic staff, faculty members and their assistants at the college, in addition to the participation of more than 350 participants from students and graduates of the university and other Yemeni universities.
