In an academic display reflecting the high level of technical and research excellence achieved by graduates of the Emirates International University, the Information Technology Department discussed a groundbreaking graduation project entitled “Aethersphere.” This advanced online distributed network simulation platform is designed to provide a modern, professional experience in managing and building virtual networks and facilitating real-time technical collaboration.
The project is the culmination of the efforts of a distinguished student group: Hussein Fouad Al-Musaibli, Abdullah Kamal Abdo Radman, Abdulaziz Ali Mohammed Abdullah, Osama Abdulkarim Al-Akhali, and Ahmed Tariq Al-Ariqi, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, and with the support of Assistant Supervisor Eng. Hossam Al-Masouri.
The discussion committee comprised a distinguished academic panel including Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani, and Professor Dr. Hisham Aqlan. They commended the project's scientific and technical merit, highlighting its intricate engineering and architectural depth, which reflects the students' advanced professional skills in networking, cloud computing, and distributed systems.
The Aethersphere project addresses a clear technological gap in traditional network simulation platforms, such as the complexity of local installation, high resource consumption, and limited capabilities for direct user collaboration. Therefore, the team developed an integrated web platform that allows users to efficiently create and manage virtual networks from any browser, while supporting real-time collaboration among multiple users.
The project relied on an advanced three-tiered technological architecture using the latest global technologies, including Next.js, Go, Gin, WebSocket, gRPC, Docker, LXC, KVM/QEMU, and Open vSwitch, along with sophisticated security and management systems such as JWT and mTLS. This reflects the high level of practical and technical training received by students at Emirates International University and their ability to produce solutions that rival those of specialized technology companies.
The project highlights the qualitative shift in modern university education within the university, where graduation projects are no longer merely academic requirements but have become genuine platforms for innovation and the creation of future digital solutions, preparing qualified personnel capable of confidently and efficiently keeping pace with the global technological revolution.
The discussion confirmed that Emirates International University continues to solidify its position as a leading academic institution in building high-quality educational outcomes that combine in-depth theoretical knowledge with professional practical application, contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of leading the digital future and driving change in various technological sectors.
