The University's Development and Quality Assurance Center Organizes a Workshop on Modern Trends in Effective Teaching Strategies for University Education

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of university education and strengthen the efficiency of its academic staff, the Development and Quality Assurance Center at the Emirates International University organized a training workshop on Thursday, November 6, 2025, entitled: "Modern Trends in Effective Teaching Strategies for University Education." The workshop was held under the patronage of the University President, Dr. Khaled Salah.
The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of the University Vice President, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, and the Secretary General, Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash, who emphasized in their opening remarks the importance of developing the capabilities of faculty members to keep pace with the rapid changes in the field of higher education. They noted that the University gives high priority to academic training as a fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of education and achieving outstanding learning outcomes.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, explained that the workshop is part of a series of development programs implemented by the center. These programs aim to empower faculty members to keep pace with modern trends in university education and to apply effective teaching strategies that contribute to raising the level of student interaction and achievement. He expressed his gratitude to the college's deanship, department heads, faculty members, trainers, and all workshop participants.
The workshop, which was attended by 60 faculty members and their assistants from the college, and presented by a number of experts, addressed three main themes:
The first theme: Effective teaching strategies: concept, dimensions, and their role in improving the quality of university education. This theme was presented by Professor Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at the university.
The second theme: Modern trends in university teaching and learning. Professor Dr. Anwar Masoud, a former member of the Accreditation Council, addressed issues of active learning, project-based learning, blended learning, and thinking-based learning.
The third session, presented by Dr. Malfi Al-Qamish, Head of the Assessment Unit at the Development and Quality Assurance Center, focused on linking teaching strategies with modern assessment methods. He discussed ways to integrate teaching and assessment to achieve high-quality learning outcomes.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session among faculty members and their assistants from the College of Engineering and Information Technology. Participants shared experiences and ideas on implementing modern strategies in classrooms.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably:
Promoting the adoption of effective teaching strategies in university courses, designing interactive learning activities that foster critical and creative thinking among students, and developing modern assessment methods that reflect actual learning outcomes and support continuous improvement of academic performance.
Participants affirmed that the workshop was a valuable learning experience that broadened their academic horizons and reaffirmed the commitment of the Emirates International University to keeping pace with the latest trends in higher education, ensuring the graduation of highly qualified and competitive professionals.
