The Emirates International University, in cooperation with the Yemen Mawaddah Foundation, organized an awareness seminar on colon cancer and endometrial cancer at a high rate, in which Dr. Arwa Al-Rabee, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and President of the Yemen Mawaddah Foundation, lectured.
The symposium, which was carried out for male and female students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the university under the slogan “My Health is My Decision” within the framework of the global month of March to raise awareness of colon and uterine cancer with high effectiveness.
In the symposium, he reviewed the causes of endometrial cancer and colon cancer, ways to prevent it, the necessity of early detection of cancers in general, and the importance of spreading community awareness, as well as health awareness of cancer diseases in general, as Dr. large number of women, and that the earlier the discovery, the greater the chance of recovery.
Dr. Arwa Al-Rabee touched on a number of factors for this disease, most notably obesity, healthy nutrition, hormones, genetics, as well as health awareness and other factors.
She also touched on the symptoms of uterine cancer, of which pelvic pain is one of its symptoms, as well as vaginal bleeding, noting that there are factors that make women vulnerable to this disease, most notably changes in the balance of female hormones in the body, obesity, lack of physical activity, hereditary colon cancer syndrome, and hormonal treatment for breast cancer as well. Dr. Arwa Al-Rabee pointed out that there is no reliable method yet for the early detection of endometrial cancer, but very serious cases are followed up, the most important of which is the history of any type of cancer, and she emphasized that ways to avoid endometrial cancer are periodic detection before and during pregnancy and childbirth, exercise, maintain a healthy weight, and know the risks of hormone therapy after menopause.
