In an academic scene reflecting the spirit of innovation and technological development, the Information Security Department at Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a distinguished graduation project: “XDR Integration with SOAR.” This project focused on designing and implementing an integrated security tool that combines XDR (Extensive Detection and Response) and SOAR (Security Coordination and Automation) technologies, reflecting the university students' awareness of the rapidly evolving challenges in the modern world of cybersecurity.
The project was prepared by students: Ehab Waleed Abdulrahman Ahmed Al-Junaid, Abdullah Abdulrahman Ahmed Abduljalil Al-Aghbari, Zaid Hassan Ali Al-Warith, and Khattab Taha Ahmed Al-Omari.
It was supervised by Professor Dr. Malek Al-Jabri, with assistant supervisor Ms. Alia Al-Arasi.
The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Jameel Rashid, Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, and Professor Dr. Malek Al-Jabri, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Farea.
The project aims to build an intelligent security framework capable of addressing the complexities of modern cyberattacks by integrating automated detection, analysis, and response technologies within a unified and efficient operating environment.
The team implemented the project using the Wazuh platform as the core of the XDR layer for analyzing security logs, detecting threats, and linking security events. This was complemented by The Hive and Cortex platforms within the SOAR layer for managing security incidents, performing automated analyses, and intelligently enriching indicators of compromise.
The project results demonstrated the proposed solution's ability to improve security visibility within organizations, accelerate threat detection and response, and reduce reliance on human intervention. This enhances the efficiency of Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and reinforces the concept of intelligent automation in cybersecurity.
This project exemplifies the high level of expertise possessed by students at Emirates International University and their ability to deliver advanced technological solutions that meet the demands of the job market and the global digital transformation, all within an academic environment that shapes the future and believes that innovation is the path to leadership.
