In a move reflecting advanced technological awareness and the ability to keep pace with the challenges of the digital age, the Information Security Department at the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Emirates International University discussed a unique graduation project entitled: "Design and Implementation of a Privacy-Focused Secure Chat Application." This project was submitted to fulfill the requirements for a Bachelor's degree in Information Security for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The project team comprised a select group of distinguished students from the department: Alawi Al-Sabbou'i, Azzam Al-Zariqi, Ali Sadiq, and Riyadh Al-Asad. The project was supervised by Professor Dr. Malik Al-Jabri, with the assistance of Engineer Azza Al-Harthi. The discussion committee consisted of: Professor Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Professor Dr. Malik Al-Jabri, and Associate Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid. The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Fara', was also in attendance.
This project exemplifies the advanced level achieved by students at the Emirates International University in the fields of cybersecurity and data protection technologies. The team focused on designing and developing a modern chat application that prioritizes user privacy and information security, given the increasing challenges of today's digital world.
The project stemmed from a deep understanding of the risks associated with using traditional communication applications, which often rely on collecting personal data such as phone numbers and email addresses. This can threaten user privacy and expose them to security breaches or unwanted messages. Therefore, the team worked on developing a more secure and private model that aims to reduce reliance on personal data, control the initiation of conversations, and implement advanced protection measures to maintain the confidentiality of exchanged messages and information.
During the discussion, the students presented the technical and conceptual aspects of the project, explaining the application's development process, the challenges they faced, and the security solutions adopted to enhance the system's reliability and performance. The project received praise from the discussion panel for its innovative idea and practical approach to an issue that has become one of the most important in the digital age.
This project reflects the high quality of educational outcomes at Emirates International University and its ongoing commitment to preparing technically skilled graduates with the practical skills and modern knowledge necessary to innovate and compete in the local and regional job market. This reinforces the university's position as a leading academic environment in the fields of technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
Emirates International University continues to support high-quality graduation projects that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, contributing to innovative technological solutions that serve the community and meet future needs.
