In an academic atmosphere brimming with creativity and engineering ambition, the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the UAE International University witnessed the discussion of a distinguished graduation project: the design of the “Safa Tower.” This tower embodies an advanced model of engineering projects that combines architectural innovation with construction expertise according to the latest international standards.
The project, prepared by a select group of Civil Engineering students—Tamer Munir Al-Ash’ari, Ahmed Abdulrab Al-Marouni, and Akram Abdul-Fattah—is the culmination of a comprehensive academic journey that reflects the high level of academic and practical training the university’s students receive. The project was supervised and discussed by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Safi and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amri, who provided scientific and specialized support that enhanced the project’s quality and distinction.
The Safa Tower project is located in the Al-Sabaha district of Sana'a, the capital city. Designed as a multi-story, earthquake-resistant administrative and investment tower, it meets the demands of modern urban development and serves the business and investment sector in Yemen by providing a professional environment for offices, services, and professional consultancies.
The project was more than just a traditional architectural design; it represented a comprehensive vision for the future of smart and sustainable towers. The students successfully combined architectural beauty, functional efficiency, and structural innovation, focusing on the concepts of sustainability, safety, and engineering security.
The team adopted the Dual System structural design for the tower. This modern and advanced system is used globally to resist vertical and lateral loads resulting from earthquakes and wind. It achieves this through the integration of columns and structural walls, resulting in high levels of rigidity, stability, and safety. This choice reflects the students' ability to apply complex engineering concepts and transform them into practical, realistic solutions that serve the modern urban environment.
Safa Tower is distinguished by its modern architectural style, perfectly suited to the needs of diverse commercial and administrative activities. It presents an architectural model that reflects an ambitious development vision, enhancing investment opportunities and modern construction in Yemen.
This unique project underscores the Emirates International University's continued commitment to its position as a leading academic institution in preparing engineering professionals capable of innovation and making a difference. Through a modern learning environment that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, the university contributes to graduating highly qualified individuals who can lead development and construction projects according to the highest professional and international standards.
Safa Tower is more than just a graduation project; it's an engineering testament to the ability of Emirates International University students to transform ambition into achievement and ideas into landmarks that shape the future.
