Clinical Pharmacy Students Undertake a Unique Field Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry

As part of its vision to prepare qualified pharmacists who combine academic knowledge with practical application, the Emirates International University, represented by the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, organized a scientific field visit for fourth-year students to a global pharmaceutical company. This visit, part of the Industrial Pharmacy course, aimed to enhance students' understanding of the pharmaceutical manufacturing process and elevate their professional skills in a specialized production environment. The visit was supervised by Dr. Abdullah Saadallah, Dr. Naseem Tawfiq, and Dr. Roaa Al-Sarouri.

The visit aimed to familiarize students with the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. They toured various departments within the company, including production units, laboratories, quality control, testing, and storage. They also learned about the manufacturing lines and the machinery and equipment used in drug production.

 During their visit, they were received by Dr. Zakaria Al-Shuaibi, the company's Human Resources Director. The students listened to detailed explanations from the company's technical and administrative staff about the workflow within the various departments and the stages of drug manufacturing. This included receiving raw materials, processing and production, and finally, packaging and distributing the final product according to approved quality and pharmaceutical safety standards.

The students also learned about pharmaceutical control systems, sterilization and stability procedures, and methods for storing and handling sensitive materials. They were also introduced to the company's most prominent pharmaceutical products and the modern technologies employed in developing the pharmaceutical industry.

The students expressed their satisfaction with the visit, emphasizing its importance in enhancing their practical understanding of the course and connecting theoretical aspects with field application. They thanked the company's management and all its employees for their warm welcome, cooperation, and the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the pharmaceutical industry.

 This visit comes as part of the Emirates International University's commitment to strengthening partnerships with pharmaceutical institutions and supporting the educational process with field experiences, thus contributing to building qualified scientific and professional competencies for the job market.
