As part of its ongoing efforts to expand its academic programs and enhance its role in developing qualified medical personnel, the Emirates International University received a ministerial committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research this morning for a field visit aimed at assessing the academic, administrative, and technical readiness to launch the Bachelor of General Pharmacy program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The committee was received by the University President, Professor Khaled Salah, and the Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash. They welcomed the committee and gave a comprehensive presentation on the university's vision and mission in developing higher education, its pioneering role in serving the community, and providing the health sector and national pharmaceutical industries with quality competencies that meet the needs of the labor market.
They emphasized that the launch of the Bachelor of General Pharmacy program responds to the growing need in Yemeni society for specialized pharmaceutical personnel, and that the university will work with all its efforts to meet all accreditation and quality assurance requirements, in a manner befitting its academic standing.
The ministerial committee, headed by Professor Hassan Al-Mahbashi and including Professor Tawfiq Al-Obaidi and a number of ministry staff, commended the university's capabilities, its high level of preparedness, and the integration of theoretical and practical aspects. They emphasized the importance of this vital specialty and the need to expand pharmacy programs to contribute to the qualification of pharmacists who keep pace with developments in the modern pharmaceutical industry and serve society efficiently.
The committee's visit included an inspection of the infrastructure for the general pharmacy specialty, including specialized laboratories, chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories, and classrooms and clinical training. They also reviewed the study plans and academic regulations to ensure their compliance with the ministry's quality and accreditation standards.
This step is an extension of the university's efforts to strengthen the medical and health education system and affirms its commitment to providing an advanced educational environment that produces competent, knowledgeable, and competitive students locally and internationally.
The committee was also received by the Dean of the University's Center for Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Sharaf Al Hamdi; the Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Saleh Al Dhaheri; the Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Dr. Mukhtar Al Gharafi; and a number of heads of academic departments and academic staff from the College of Medicine and the Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
