In an academic scene reflecting deep community awareness and a spirit of technological innovation, the UAE International University witnessed the discussion of a unique and inspiring graduation project by students in the Information Technology Department entitled: “A Drug Redistribution Platform.” This project embodies an advanced model for harnessing technology to serve humanity and promote health sustainability.
The project was prepared by a select group of students from the department: Radwan Abdul Rahman Al-Tairi, Bashar Abdullah Numan, Sami Ali Abdo Sinan, Jalal Ghafir Issa, and Talal Abdo Al-Tal.
It was supervised by Dr. Musa Gharab and Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Humairi.
The discussion committee consisted of: Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, and Professor Dr. Musa Gharab.
This project is one of several impactful technological initiatives reflecting the UAE International University's commitment to developing high-quality academic graduates capable of providing practical solutions to societal challenges. The team addressed the issue of pharmaceutical waste, which has become a major global health challenge, with millions of tons of medication wasted annually despite the needs of many patients.
The project's concept stemmed from the urgent need in Yemen for a smart and secure electronic system to manage surplus medications and redistribute them in an organized and efficient manner. This system aims to reduce waste and enhance access to safe, unused medications for patients in need.
The platform utilizes a sophisticated technological mechanism to collect surplus medications from users after verifying their safety according to rigorous health standards. These medications are then redistributed to those in need in a safe and organized way, contributing to easing economic burdens, strengthening social solidarity, and achieving sustainability in the healthcare sector.
During the discussion, the examining committee commended the project's scientific and technical level, as well as the students' ability to utilize modern technology to address a humanitarian and health issue with broad societal impact. They emphasized that such projects represent a shining example of the advanced university education adopted by the Emirates International University.
This project reaffirms that the Emirates International University does not merely provide academic knowledge, but also works to cultivate creative individuals capable of innovation and problem-solving. This is achieved through a modern educational environment that focuses on practical application, scientific research, and linking educational outcomes to societal needs and sustainable development.
