In a remarkable academic event reflecting a spirit of creativity and excellence, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology witnessed this morning, Tuesday, the presentation and discussion of projects by third-year architecture students in the Architectural Design Studio (5) course. The event was attended by the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, and the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ibrahim Fara'a. The projects were supervised by Dr. Abdulkarim Hamid Al-Din, with the active participation of engineers Maha Atef and Hanan Dahhan.
The projects focused on the design of Sana'a International Airport with a capacity of up to 8 million passengers annually. The students presented approximately 45 integrated architectural projects, embodying diverse creative visions that reflected a deep understanding of the requirements of major vital projects and a remarkable ability to link architectural aesthetics with operational efficiency.
The submitted designs were distinguished by their focus on several key aspects, most notably: innovative design concepts, intelligent functional solutions, integrated planning solutions, careful site studies, and analysis of air traffic and internal and external transportation, all in line with modern international airport design standards.
In his remarks during the evaluation, the university's Vice President, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badani, affirmed that these projects represent a true model of high-quality educational outcomes, reflecting the level of academic and practical training the university is committed to providing its students. He noted that the creative ideas and professional solutions he witnessed demonstrate the students' advanced architectural awareness and their ability to handle strategic projects with national and developmental dimensions.
He added that the university is committed to supporting this excellence by providing a stimulating learning environment, qualified academic staff, and modern educational resources that keep pace with global developments, thus contributing to the preparation of graduates capable of competing in the local and regional job markets.
For their part, the course supervisors expressed their pride in the students' achievements, emphasizing that many of the projects reached the level of graduation projects in terms of concept, presentation, and final execution. This reflects the students' seriousness and commitment, as well as the effectiveness of the academic curriculum.
The projects were well-received by the attendees, who praised the wide variety of ideas and the ability to offer innovative design solutions that meet both functional and aesthetic needs, thus enhancing the college's position as a center of excellence and innovation in the field of engineering.
This activity comes within the framework of the university's commitment to strengthening the practical aspect of students' skills and linking educational outcomes to real-world needs, contributing to the graduation of architects who possess the vision and skills to create a more advanced and sustainable urban future.
The evaluation sessions were also attended by a number of heads of academic departments within the college, who expressed their admiration for the advanced level achieved by the projects.
