Launching a blood donation campaign on campus for the benefit of patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders

University President Nasser Al-Mofari launched this Wednesday morning on the university campus a blood donation campaign for patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders, which is organized by the Medical Laboratories Department, in coordination with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients, and in cooperation with the National Center for Blood Transfusion and Research. This was in the presence of the Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash, and the Head of the Medical Laboratories Department, Dr. Abdel Baset Al-Ghouri.
During the inauguration, the University President, Dr. Nasser Al-Mofari, stressed the university’s constant keenness to support such volunteer campaigns that embody the values of goodness and giving, and encourage students and university workers to promote the principle of humanitarian assistance and social responsibility. Pointing out the importance of blood donation as it provides blood units for patients with thalassemia, hereditary blood disorders, and other patients who depend on blood transfusions.
The campaign, which was also implemented in coordination with the academic medical team and the University Student Forum, included screening donors, including employees, faculty members, and university students, before they donate, to ensure their bodies are prepared for it, and to ensure their eligibility to donate.
During the campaign, awareness publications were distributed about blood donation and its benefits, and on its first day, the campaign witnessed a large turnout from university employees and students.
The number of blood donors during the first day exceeded 50 donors. The campaign is scheduled to conclude its activity tomorrow, Thursday, September 7, 2023 AD.
