Clinical Pharmacy Students at Emirates International University Undertake Inspiring Field Experience at Modern Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant to Enhance Job Readiness

As part of its vision to cultivate qualified healthcare professionals who combine academic excellence with practical experience, the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Emirates International University organized a field visit for fifth-year students to Shifa Pharmaceutical Industries on Wednesday morning. The visit, part of the Industrial Pharmacy course, was led by the Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department, Dr. Mukhtar Al-Gharrafi.

The visit provided a rich learning experience, giving students firsthand insight into a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. They toured the various departments and units within the factory, including production, quality control, laboratories, testing and quality control, warehouses, and manufacturing lines, as well as observing the equipment and machinery used in the pharmaceutical production and analysis processes.

 The students also learned about the integrated stages of drug manufacturing, from receiving and storing raw materials according to approved standards, through manufacturing, sterilization, quality control, stability, and quality assurance processes, to the final product ready for distribution. This experience reflected the significant professional and technological advancements in the pharmaceutical industry.

During their tour, the students received a detailed explanation from the factory's specialized staff about the work processes within the various departments, development and production plans, and the technical and technological standards followed to ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products. They also learned about the company's most prominent pharmaceutical products and their role in meeting market needs.

The students expressed their great satisfaction with this educational visit, emphasizing that it represented an important practical experience that enhanced their understanding of the academic concepts they study in classrooms. It also broadened their professional horizons and directly connected them to the realities of working in the pharmaceutical industry. They also appreciated the warm welcome and excellent cooperation from the factory's management and specialized staff.

 This visit is part of the university's ongoing approach to fostering integration between theory and practice, and its belief in the importance of preparing its students to meet the demands of the job market through practical training, field visits, and partnerships with specialized institutions.
