In an academic scene reflecting the level of excellence and innovation fostered by the Emirates International University, a group of students from the Information Technology Department in the College of Engineering discussed a unique graduation project entitled "Madaris – Schools." This integrated smart platform for school monitoring and intelligent academic assessment is designed to provide a modern model for digital transformation in the educational environment, combining smart management, advanced academic analysis, and artificial intelligence technologies.
The project was implemented by a select group of Information Technology students: Hussein Ali Al-Mahalbi, Hashem Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, Nasser Abdullah Al-Hazmi, Faisal Abdul Rahman Al-Baydani, and Muhannad Mansour Al-Masoudi, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi. The discussion committee consisted of Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani, Dr. Jamil Saad, and Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Soufi, President of Al-Qalam University and Vice Dean of the College of Engineering at Ibb University.
The project reflects the high level of scientific and technical development achieved by students at the Emirates International University, demonstrating their ability to design advanced technological solutions that address real-world challenges in the education sector and keep pace with global shifts towards smart education and comprehensive digitalization.
The "Madaris" system aims to transform the traditional school into a modern digital learning environment. This environment relies on easy access to information, intelligent data analysis, and precise monitoring of students' academic and behavioral progress. It achieves this through an integrated technological system that connects administration, teachers, students, and parents within a unified and advanced framework.
The project addresses several challenges facing educational institutions, most notably the reliance on paper-based systems, the difficulty of monitoring students' academic and behavioral progress, weak communication between schools and parents, and the lack of tools for analyzing and predicting academic performance.
The system offers a wide range of smart services, including the automation of student, teacher, and course data management; attendance and absence management; monitoring of grades and weekly, monthly, termly, and annual assessments; and the provision of comprehensive digital educational content that supports self-learning.
The project also includes a digital learning library containing explanatory videos, study summaries, and interactive learning materials, in addition to a "Test Yourself" system for self-assessment tests and instant notifications that contribute to enhancing continuous communication between the school, students, and parents.
One of the project's most prominent features is its reliance on artificial intelligence and data analysis technologies. The team developed an intelligent analysis unit that utilizes attendance data, grades, assessments, and assignments, employing advanced algorithms such as XGBoost Regressor, Gradient Boosting, Random Forest Classifier, and Linear Regression. This unit aims to predict students' future academic performance on a weekly, monthly, termly, and annual basis, while also identifying academic difficulties early and providing intelligent recommendations to improve educational performance.
The team also utilized a suite of advanced technologies in developing the project, including ASP.NET + C for building the backend system and web interfaces, Flutter for developing smartphone applications, SQL Server for database management, Python for data analysis and artificial intelligence, and RESTful APIs for efficiently connecting system components.
This groundbreaking project underscores that Emirates International University (EIU) goes beyond simply providing academic knowledge. It focuses on developing graduates capable of creating future technological solutions and transforming innovative ideas into practical projects that serve the community and meet the demands of the job market and the global digital transformation.
The project also reflects the high standard of educational outcomes the university prides itself on, graduating students with advanced technical and innovative skills and a genuine ability to compete and innovate in the fields of artificial intelligence, educational technology, and digital transformation.
