In an academic scene reflecting the spirit of innovation and future leadership, the UAE International University witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project by students from the Information Security Department at the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The project, titled “Designing an AI-Based Network Security Testing Tool,” embodies the modern trend towards employing artificial intelligence technologies to enhance cybersecurity and protect the digital infrastructure of institutions.
The project, named TechSafe, was prepared by students Mai Abdo Mohammed Al-Hallali, Asma Samir Saleh Al-Hashdi, and Fatima Rashid Jaber Al-Bashiri, under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, with the participation of Assistant Supervisor Engineer Alia Al-Arasi. This project fulfills the requirements for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Information Security for the academic year 2025-2026.
During the discussion, the students presented their vision for developing a comprehensive, intelligent security tool capable of efficiently scanning networks and detecting vulnerabilities. This is achieved by integrating open-source scanning tools like Nmap with modern artificial intelligence technologies, enabling the analysis of security risks and the provision of professional recommendations in a simplified and easy-to-understand language.
The system is distinguished by its ability to detect network-connected devices, analyze their vulnerabilities, and link them to global vulnerability databases (CVEs) locally. It also utilizes an intelligent language model to provide accurate analysis and prioritize processing, thus reducing reliance on complex technical expertise, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project also highlighted a crucial aspect: ensuring data privacy. The system operates entirely offline, without requiring an external connection, enhancing its reliability and security and providing an economical and effective solution in the field of cybersecurity.
The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Professor Dr. Jamil Rashid, Professor Dr. Musa Gharab, and Engineer Alia Al-Arasi. The committee commended the project's scientific and technical level and the students' innovative approach to addressing network security challenges using modern, smart solutions that keep pace with global digital transformations.
This project underscores the Emirates International University's continued support for impactful projects that make a difference and enhance its students' presence in advanced technology and digital innovation fields. This is achieved through an academic environment that fosters creativity and connects knowledge with real-world needs and the job market.
