In an academic scene embodying the spirit of innovation and future leadership, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project by students specializing in Information Security. The project, titled “A Platform for Examining Security Vulnerabilities in Email and Websites,” reflects the advanced level of technical training the university provides its students and their ability to produce digital solutions that address modern cybersecurity challenges.
The project, presented by students Akram Al-Daba’i, Tariq Ma’sar, Ahmed Abdulrahman, and Ali Abdullah Saleh, was under the academic supervision of Dr. Jamil Rashid, with the participation of assistant supervisor Eng. Alia Al-Arasi. The discussion committee included Dr. Malik Al-Jabri and Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi.
The project aims to develop an integrated platform for analyzing security vulnerabilities and verifying data leaks on the web. This platform helps users and website owners assess the digital security of their platforms, identify weaknesses before they are exploited, and provide detailed recommendations to enhance cybersecurity and improve its effectiveness.
One of the platform's most prominent features is its intelligent data leak detection tool. This tool allows users to determine if their email has been compromised in known global data leaks through integration with the popular "Have I Been Pwned" API, demonstrating a high level of awareness regarding the importance of proactive digital security.
The project also relies on an integrated technological architecture that includes a front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with a back-end development using PHP and MySQL databases. Specialized security libraries are employed to ensure secure communication and effective data protection.
The discussion committee affirmed that the project embodies the level of academic and applied empowerment that the Emirates International University is keen to establish, by transforming theoretical knowledge into real-world technological projects with practical impact, capable of serving the community and keeping pace with the demands of digital transformation and cybersecurity.
This project is part of a series of high-quality outputs that confirm the success of the Emirates International University in building a modern educational environment that graduates qualified professionals with technical and research skills, capable of competing and innovating in future fields, thus solidifying the university's position as an incubator for innovation and the development of digital talent in Yemen and the region.
