In an academic display reflecting a high level of innovation and excellence, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project by students from the Artificial Intelligence Department, titled:
"The Smart E-commerce Engine (IIE): Transforming E-commerce Decisions from Intuition to Data Science."
The project, created by students Bashar Al-Muntasir, Al-Baraa Al-Hindi, and Mohammed Al-Obaidi, under the distinguished academic supervision of Professor Ahmed Sultan Al-Hajami and Eng. Sundus Al-Nadhari, affirms that the university's graduates not only meet market demands but also contribute to reshaping and shaping its future.
The discussion took place in the presence of the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Baadani, and with the participation of a specialized scientific committee that included Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani and Dr. Malek Al-Jabri. The committee praised the project's advanced scientific level and its profound approach to addressing real-world challenges in the global e-commerce environment.
The project represents a significant leap forward in the world of e-commerce by developing an integrated, enterprise-level software system designed to address the challenges faced by Amazon FBA investors, particularly those related to market saturation and profit erosion resulting from reliance on traditional analytics tools.
The “Intelligent E-commerce Engine (IIE)” is based on a sophisticated microservices architecture, transforming product selection from mere guesswork to investment decisions grounded in rigorous, scientific analysis of big data.
The system features a sophisticated five-indicator mathematical engine that comprehensively evaluates factors such as demand, competition, profitability, stability, and trend by integrating artificial intelligence models with deterministic mathematical equations. It also utilizes advanced algorithms like LightGBM for demand forecasting and hybrid NLP techniques (BERT and LLaMA) to analyze competitor reviews and identify precise investment opportunities.
To enhance investment decision security, the team developed an innovative feature known as the "Margin Kill Switch," which automatically blocks any investment that does not achieve a minimum safe return on investment, thus providing a smart layer of capital protection.
On the user experience level, the system interface was designed using React.js, offering a fully integrated, AI-powered executive dashboard that displays in-depth analyses and strategic insights, along with a "Launch Decision Engine" that accurately categorizes investment opportunities as: Recommended, Under Review, and Rejected.
The system also relies on a modern technology ecosystem that includes FastAPI, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, and Celery/Redis, reflecting the high level of engineering expertise achieved by the university students in building intelligent systems applicable to real-world business environments.
The evaluation results proved that the system significantly reduces investment decision-making time while providing transparent explanations for each recommendation, thereby enhancing the efficiency and security of investments in e-commerce.
This project clearly embodies the philosophy of the Emirates International University (EIU) in providing high-quality education based on practical application, innovation, and linking academic knowledge to the needs of the global market, thus producing a generation of highly qualified individuals capable of competing and making a difference.
