In an academic achievement that embodies excellence in engineering education and advanced practical training, students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Emirates International University discussed two unique projects on Thursday, reflecting their deep scientific understanding and innovative capabilities in the biomedical field.

 

The first group presented a distinguished project titled "A Calibration Device for Premature Infant Care Equipment." This compact device is capable of calibrating three of the most important devices used in premature infant care: the incubator, the baby warmer, and the jaundice treatment device.

 

The device features high accuracy in displaying readings, according to international standards, and can send data directly to any mobile phone or computer via Wi-Fi. Its accurate readings include: the incubator room temperature from five points, the baby's body temperature, air flow rate, noise level, humidity, and ultraviolet radiation intensity.

 

 The project was submitted by students: Ayham Abdullah Al-Baadani, Ayham Walid Juh Juh, Jamal Jameel Al-Hammadi, Abdulrahman Taha Al-Mutlas, Hassan Saeed Basalma, and Ziad Al-Sharif, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Al-Alafi.

 

The second group presented an innovative project titled "Early Detection Device for Cardiovascular Diseases," a smart portable device designed to accurately and effectively monitor a wide range of physiological biomarkers, contributing to early diagnosis and reducing health risks.

 

The device includes multiple measurements, including cholesterol levels, glucose levels, creatinine levels, electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, and body temperature.

 

The project was submitted by students: Mohammed Muqbil Al-Ziyadi, Ahid Abdul Latif Mohsen, Ezz Al-Din Abdullah Al-Awami, Ibrahim Fahd Al-Qabati, Ahmed Ali Al-Asimi, Suhaib Badie Abdul Rashid, and Malak Mohammed Al-Khatib, under the supervision of Dr. Mushtaq Al-Azazi.

 

 The project discussion committee was composed of a select group of academics and specialists, headed by: Dr. Mohammed Al-Alafi, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering; Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi, Head of the Department of Information Technology; Dr. Malik Al-Jabri, Faculty Member; Dr. Mushtaq Al-Azazi, Faculty Member; and Eng. Mohammed Faisal Abdul Qader.

 

The presented projects underscore the quality of education at the Emirates International University and the great emphasis placed on developing the practical and research skills of engineering students through applied projects that meet labor market requirements and contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in the community.
