On Wednesday, Dhu al-Qi'dah 16, 1446 AH (corresponding to May 14, 2025 AD), the external review team of the Academic Accreditation Council concluded its field visit to the International Business Administration program at the Emirates International University. The three-day visit, which lasted for three consecutive days, included a series of meetings with academic standards representatives, in addition to field visits to various university facilities, including classrooms, the library, lecture halls, the control center, and student activity facilities for the program.
At the conclusion of the visit, a meeting was held to discuss the team's work. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasser Hadi Al-Moufari, President of the University; Dr. Fouad Ismail Hanash, Secretary General; Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance; Dr. Mohammed Al-Kahali, Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences; Dr. Abdullah Al-Qurashi, Head of the Department of International Business; and Dr. Fahmi Al-Daqqaf, Program Coordinator. Professor Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Haboub, Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, emphasized that academic accreditation is no longer an option, but rather a necessity and a tangible reality. He added that universities that have strived to improve the quality of education for many years are now reaping the fruits of their efforts. He pointed out that accreditation gives students greater ability to choose the most appropriate program to further their academic career.
Dr. Al-Haboub also emphasized the importance of institutional and programmatic accreditation, especially in the Yemeni context, emphasizing that there are clear indications of the seriousness of some universities in pursuing accreditation. He also called on all universities to work diligently to obtain institutional and programmatic accreditation, as only institutions that have achieved this accreditation are recognized, and the opportunity remains available to all.
The Chairman of the Council expressed his thanks and appreciation to the university leadership, represented by its President, Dr. Nasser Al-Mufri, Secretary-General, Dr. Fouad Hanash, the Dean of the College, and members of the academic staff, for their efforts in making the visit a success. He also commended the efforts of the external review team, headed by Professor Zayed Al-Shawash, and including Dr. Muhammad Al-Ashwal and Dr. Imad Al-Ramada, as well as the expert team, headed by Professor Naaman Fayrouz, and including Dr. Huda Al-Sanhani, Director General of Accreditation, and Professor Nasr Madar, Legal Advisor, along with the accompanying media team.
For his part, Professor Naaman Fayrouz, Council member and head of the expert team, reviewed the academic accreditation process of the program from the signing of the agreement with the university until the announcement of the results of the field visit, including the stages of analyzing and discussing the reports of the external review team.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Zayed Al-Shawash, head of the review team, gave a detailed presentation on the visit's agenda and objectives, and the steps implemented over the three days, highlighting the most prominent strengths and weaknesses identified in the academic program.
The meeting was also attended by a number of academics, technicians, administrators, and students from the university.
