Laboratory medicine

Since the inception of International Emirates University - College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Yemen, one of its most important goals has been its relentless pursuit of excellence and keeping pace with the great development in the field of academic education and the tremendous revolution in methods and techniques of disease diagnosis, as well as in scientific research. International Emirates University was keen to establish the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, which constitutes an integral part of the scientific development during this period. From this standpoint, the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences was a means to create competent and qualified specialists to participate effectively in this scientific and medical technical revolution .           Department advantages : 1- The academic staff is among the best competencies within Yemeni universities and has experience in various specializations and academic degrees . 2- Curricula : The most advanced and modern curricula according to academic, local, regional and international accreditation standards . 3- Equipment and laboratories: The laboratories are equipped with the latest devices according to each department and in accordance with academic quality standards and safety standards, whether in basic or applied medical sciences. The most important of these are diagnostic devices for infectious or organic diseases, such as the PCR device   in an independent unit with DNA extraction devices and a device(ELISA ) and also advanced microscopes (Advanced Microscopes & Fluorescence Microscope) and the lympholyser device (LYMPHOLYSER)

Objectives

1) To prepare and qualify distinguished medical graduates with high competence in the field of medical laboratories
2) To provide students with basic knowledge in biological medicine and laboratory sciences and apply that knowledge in dealing with diagnostic cases .
3) To provide students with the necessary knowledge to understand the impact of different life stages, gender differences, lifestyle differences, psychological, social, epidemiological, and genetic factors and their impact on the spread of diseases and methods of prevention .
4) To enable students to understand the essential concepts in preventive and diagnostic medicine and necessary for diagnosing medical problems, enabling them to employ these concepts in clinical and laboratory practices .
5) To practice appropriate professional behavior when dealing with patients and colleagues, adhere to professional standards of ethical behavior, and work harmoniously and in a team spirit .
6) To activate partnerships with civil society institutions and relevant authorities locally, regionally, and globally in order to provide a supportive educational environment in a manner that helps enhance public health and community safety efforts .
7) Providing students with self-learning skills and the use of information technology, medical evidence, and scientific research to keep pace with developments in this specialty
