Laboratory medicine

Since its inception, the International University of Emirates – Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Yemen has been committed to excellence and keeping pace with the significant advancements in academic education and the enormous revolution in disease diagnosis techniques and scientific research. The International University of Emirates has been keen to establish the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, which forms part of the scientific development during this period. From this standpoint, the Bachelor's program in Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was created as a means to produce competent and qualified specialists who can actively participate in this scientific and medical technological revolution.   Section Advantages: 1. Academic Staff: The faculty consists of the best competencies within Yemeni universities, with expertise across various specializations and academic degrees. 2. Curriculum: The curriculum is among the most advanced and up-to-date, adhering to the standards of academic accreditation at the local, regional, and international levels. 3. Facilities and Laboratories: The laboratories are equipped with the latest devices according to each department and in line with academic quality standards and safety measures. This includes both basic and applied medical sciences. Some of the key equipment includes diagnostic devices for infectious or organic diseases, such as the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) machine in a dedicated unit, DNA extraction devices, the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) device, advanced microscopes (Advanced Microscopes & Fluorescence Microscope), and the LYMPHOLYSER device.

Leadership in laboratory diagnostic medicine and excellence in medical education, health care, scientific research, and community service locally and regionally.

Objectives

1)     Preparing and qualifying distinguished medical graduate with high efficiency in the field of laboratory medicine.

2)     Providing students with basic knowledge of the biomedical and laboratory sciences and applying that knowledge to deal with diagnostic cases.

3)     Providing students with the necessary knowledge to understand the impact of different life stages, gender differences, different lifestyles, psychological, social and epidemiological genetic factors and their impact on the spread of diseases and methods of prevention.

4)     Enable students to know the concepts necessary for preventive and diagnostic medicine and to diagnose medical problems so that they are able to apply the concepts in clinical and laboratory practice.

5)     Practice appropriate professional behavior with patients and colleagues, adhere to professional standards of ethical behavior, and work in harmony with one team spirit.

6)     Activating the partnership with civil society institutions and the relevant authorities locally, regionally and internationally to provide a stimulating and supportive educational environment, in a way that serves to enhance public health efforts and community safety.

               7)     Providing students with self-learning skills, using information technology, medical evidence and scientific research to keep pace with the developments of the specialization.
