Vision

The vision of the department of chemical engineering is to be a nationally recognized department in education, training, developing professional skills and quality research.

Mission

The department’s mission is to provide a high-quality education in chemical engineering that prepares graduates for productive careers in engineering and related fields and for life as cultivated, effective members and leaders. In addition, encouraging creative activities in research for effective contribution to the development of the community and nation.

Objectives

  1. To provide the necessary knowledge and standard education and training in the field of chemical    Engineering that prepares the graduates for a professional career in various types of managerial and technical professions.
  2. To provide students with the capabilities to apply this knowledge and think clearly, creatively, logically and originally when they design, analyze, program, build, and maintain engineering systems.
  3. To prepare graduates to obtain careers in various areas of chemical engineering including,   petrochemical, petroleum refining, biochemical, pharmaceutical, water treatment, desalination, environmental pollution control, safety industries, mineral processing, advanced materials, and food technologies.
  4. To provide students with the opportunities to develop a sense of responsibility, life-long learning skills, communication and teamwork skills as well as agood understanding of professional ethics, global, economic, environmental, and societal issues related to the discipline.
  5. To engage in activities that ensures the future capacity of the staff and students to deal with technological and professional development. 
  6. To contribute effectively to the development of the society and respond to the continuous development challenges.
  7. To encourage a stimulating academic environment for high quality research and development in chemical engineering that addresses current and future societal/technological needs. 

Department head’s speech

Chemical engineering is one of the most important engineering specializations (majors)  on which most industrial processes are based, whether traditional, such as the oil and gas industries, which are of economic and strategic importance, as well as the food and pharmaceutical industries, which are of national importance due to the country’s self-sufficiency and independence from its sovereign decision. Modern industries and the principle of manufacturing industries depend mainly on chemical engineering and the transformation of raw materials. To final products that can be used and traded, but rather work to improve the quality of the products and bring them to the specifications of a high degree of quality that enables them to compete in the markets. One of the most important branches of chemical engineering is working to modernize devices and equipment through design processes (optimal production process) for the production process by reducing side-product materials released into the environment and reducing materials used in industries through the recycling process, which leads to non-depletion of  rawmaterials One of the most important concepts of chemical engineering is the use of alternative energy ))Renewable Energy  such as solar energy, wind energy, etc., as well as working to prolong the life of industrial units by combating the corrosion and deterioration process that affects them. Based on the above, there is no production unit that does not overlap with the chemical engineering specialty
