In an academic setting reflecting the maturity of the educational experience and the quality of its outcomes, the Emirates International University witnessed the discussion of a unique graduation project by female students majoring in Management Information Systems. Titled "The Digital Civil Status Platform," the project is an innovative initiative that responds to current needs and anticipates the future of digital transformation in Yemen.
The project, presented by students Abrar Abdul-Alim Mohammed Al-Hazmi, Shaima Abdul-Raqeeb Thabet Al-Hakimi, Kawthar Saleh Naji Al-Ruwaishan, Aya Ibrahim Ahmed Issa, Shaima Yasser Ahmed Al-Shaibani, and Wajdan Mutahhar Ahmed Al-Salahi, fulfilled the requirements for obtaining a Bachelor's degree for the 2025/2026 academic year. It was supervised by Dr. Mukhtar Ghailan and reviewed by a specialized scientific committee comprised of leading academics.
The discussion committee comprised a select group of specialized academics, including Dr. Mukhtar Ghilan, Head of the Management Information Systems Department; Dr. Mohammed Al-Kholani; Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sabri; Dr. Ashwaq Al-Jaboubi; and Professor Safaa Al-Bahlouli, who commended the project's high quality and its advanced practical applications.
The project reflects a high level of scientific expertise, addressing one of the most significant challenges facing the civil status sector: the reliance on traditional procedures and paper documents, which leads to slow processing, a lack of transparency, and difficulty in tracking transactions.
The proposed platform offers a comprehensive digital solution that allows citizens easy and efficient access to civil status services through a unified system. This system encompasses the issuance and renewal of national identity cards, birth and death certificates, and marriage and divorce documents, in addition to application tracking, notification management, and advanced administrative dashboards.
The team adopted the modern Agile methodology in implementing the project, which allowed for high flexibility in development and gradual improvement in the quality of outputs. The system was also built using the latest software technologies, enhancing its efficiency, security, and sustainability.
The results of the field study, which relied on various scientific tools such as interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis, showed a pressing need for a unified digital system. The study also revealed a high level of community support for the platform idea, which strengthens the chances of its practical implementation.
The discussion committee concluded that the project represents an advanced model for high-quality educational outcomes, capable of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. It embodies the university's commitment to preparing qualified professionals who will lead the digital transformation and contribute to the development of state institutions.
This achievement is not merely a graduation project; it is a living reflection of a stimulating educational environment that believes students are not just recipients of knowledge, but also creators of solutions and partners in building the future.
