The Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program is a branch of medicine that deals with oral and dental health. It addresses problems of caries, tooth loss, and gingivitis. It focuses on the importance of replacing missing teeth and restoring normal function to the patient. It plays an important role in improving the aesthetics of the mouth and teeth .
Mission
The Dental Medicine program is designed to prepare a generation of highly qualified graduates in clinical competence, who possess the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to begin practicing general dentistry to serve citizens in the community in which they live
Objective
The curriculum has been designed to achieve the following goals:
1. To Qualify specialist scientific cadar with highly skillful caring, knowledgeable and competent dentists who are familiarized with and accept the obligation to practice in the best interest of the patient at all times
2. To acquire the basic knowledge and skills in medical and dental fields that will make the practice of dentistry professional, ethical and human.
3. To integrate basic sciences with oral health sciences to facilitate the student’s application of knowledge to oral health care.
4. To be fully aware and prepare for evidence based dental practice in the ever-changing environment of health care in the third millennium.
5. To incorporate clinical knowledge with clinical skills allowing the students to deliver efficient patient caret
6. To ensure the development of a professional and considerate approach to the analysis and management of health care.
7. To demonstrate training in dental education that copes up with international standards of dental practice.
8. To display training in dental education with international standards of dental practice.
9 To fulfill the oral health needs of the Yemen community through a combination of dental science and craft of medicine with emphasis on aspects related to prevention of maxillofacial disease and promotion of Oro-dental health.
